|Christina Ray-Duncan||Leona Mourton|
Hello, I transferred her memorial to you as requested. I would love to exchange information on the Mourton Family as I am related to them 5 or 6 different ways. My email is okchristinabelle
I hope to hear from you soon.
|firstname.lastname@example.org||RE: Bethlehem Cemetery|
My grandparents are buried at Bethlehem Cemetery. I noticed in Find-A-Grave it has the right pictures and folks buried there, but it says Hughes Springs and the wrong road. Not sure how to change it. Bethlehem Cemetery is on FM #995 with either a Douglassville or Linden address. I live on the same road a few miles down (with an Atlanta address).
Thanks for all your work!

OK, I have some of it done. Donna Wall had memorials for William Parks Lee and Miles Parks Lee in Hickory Grove when in fact they are in Center Grove.
I've made new memorials in Center Grove for them and Annie Luella, that you made with an unknown burial location, and added the photos and D.C. and Registration Cards to them.
I'm not sure how you could add all the other siblings and such without having the management of the memorial. ( I guess one could copy and paste them). And without being able to contact Donna to transfer them, the only other choice would be to contact the administrators and see if they can help.
She is not the only one in this area that screws up memorials and then you can't contact them.
I would be happy to transfer these memorials to you if you want.
My buddys name is Claude Michael Lee. His father was Claude Lee and I believe his grandfather was a Claude also. Michael works for the state in Austin so I don't see him that often. But their families are all located just a few miles from Center Grove Cem.
If I can help any other way just let me know. I'm still trying to find out who is over the cemetery.
I hope all this has answered some of your questions.
Man, I can't thank you enough for those images - you pitched a perfect game for me, and I deeply appreciate it, plus posting them up...great job.
I think we may have to back-track on these memorials that Donna Wall established.
First though, please delete the memorial you created for Annie Luella Surratt (Find A Grave Memorial# 159259396).
I created mine back on 30 November 2015, and I've already got all the family links to the children established already.
All I needed to do was link Center Grove Cemetery to my memorial to complete it.
Now...and please don't misunderstand me, but it might be in the best interest of fair play to also delete anything that you duplicated that competes with Donna Wall's memorials also.
Her memorials are flawed simply by virtue of the fact she has the wrong cemetery indicated.
All she has to do is make a simple correction and it's fixed.
Hickory Grove to Center Grove.
I've already sent her several messages informing her of this, and how to make the correction.
Granted - she has not responded to any of my messages of late, nor does it appear she's responding to the other messages that are piling up like cord wood on her message board.
Be that as it may...we must be patient.
Her memorials trump any duplicates that may appear later, simply by the fact of the date in which she created it/or them.
Despite whether or not the cemetery she chose was correct.
Not to mention the family links that are already established...
Now - your suggestion of perhaps contacting Find A Grave to intervene, and/or mediate, contact her in some way (unknown to us), or even take them over - is a good suggestion.
I'll make an effort to contact her one more time through the proper channels (her public message board, her email) and see if she responds. If not, then we (if this is something you want to actually get involved in) could make a formal attempt contacting Find A Grave to sort this out.
I need to give Donna Wall a little more time.
Her last message had something to do with her computer being down, and her husband in ill health, or cancer, I don't know...but she's obviously going through a rough patch.
Neglecting Find A Grave memorials can really suck, because it's almost like a real job, and requires frequent attention, care, and responsibility.
If the person who manages them is not there to respond to edits and transfers...what then ?
The memorial is stuck on 'Stupid'.
Yea Benny, I think in the best interest of Find A Grave, Donna Wall, and the time and effort invested in the already existing memorials that are here...I suggest you delete them, lest they begin to compound the problem, and somebody unwittingly tries to link with a duplicate without knowing it is one (I've done that already several times).
I'll look into the family of Claude Michael Lee, and see what I can come up with. I'm here in Austin too, been here since '99.
You should slip me your email address so we can continue this discussion, so here's mine:
I really appreciate the job you did, it was a huge help, and thanks for offering to do it.
And I hope you don't feel slighted by me asking you to delete those memorials...believe me, we'll make it right, I'll make it right, or Donna will make it right...somehow.
I don't want to throw Donna Wall under the bus just yet.

I sure do appreciate this.
The confusion might involve some memorials created by Donna Lee Wall (#46909858).
She's got a bunch of confusing memorials on Find A Grave, and I've been trying to contact her for a year now.
No answer, and I need to help her get her mess straightened out as soon as possible.
|This Old Scarecrow||RE: Headstones|
Thanks so much for making the trip.
As it turns out, the Cox family seems to all be resting at Bethlehem Cemetery, sorry.
Your friend with the last name Lee...find who his grandfather, and g-grandfather Lee were, and I'll follow up on it.
I'll be in touch.

Hi! Thanks for posting the photos of his two grave markers to his memorial.
I find it interesting that one marker has a Christian cross and the other has a Jewish star. Also, the small headstone is vertical, when it should be horizontal.
Are the two grave markers near each other. Just curious.
Thanks again! Ace

First and foremost, thank you very much for the quick response.
I would like to also thank you for all the tremendous work, and heavy lifting you've done for Find A Grave.
It appears that you and TAYLOR work side-by-side, and have covered an immense area of real estate.
Your answers to my questions make perfect sense.
I just wanted you to explain it from the experience of your vantage point.
Considering the age of Center Grove (once known as the Graham Graveyard), Hickory Grove Cemetery, and many others in the area...it's logical to assume there are numerous unmarked graves (particularly before 1900) that were weathered by time and rendered unreadable, broken, vandalized, (or in some cases) have settled below the turf, and have grown over.
If Cass County, and the area churches don't have burial records close at hand, it's seems logical that funeral directors, and grounds keepers would/or should have a working knowledge of the respective cemeteries.
Perhaps they would be of some service, and willing to share their spreadsheets, and plot info.
As an aside...I photographed a cemetery in Pennsylvania back in the late '70s, and documented several family members that had only those cheap aluminum place markers that the funeral home puts there in lieu of a future stone.
Good thing I did too; because when I joined Find A Grave, that same cemetery had been thoroughly documented by others during that interim, and I was able to add memorials for those same family members, because (for whatever reason) those cheap markers had disappeared (hit by a lawn mower, removed by vandals, etc.).
I'm providing below a short list of known, and/or suspected burials at Center Grove for your scrutiny.
Some of the names I'm listing come from a "Graham family history" that was given to me.
Please don't feel obligated to go out there and poke around on my behalf.
Charley Auborn Graham (1885-1887)
Find A Grave# 158551717 (from the Graham family history)
Sarah Ann (Graham) Holcombe (1829-1888)
Find A Grave# 158701106 (from Graham family history)
In her will (Cass County Probate Minutes, Vol.8, p.274, 28 January 1882) Sarah Ann Holcombe leaves her entire estate to her nephew Charles A. Graham, and indicates she is to be buried in the Graham family cemetery (now Center Grove Cemetery).
Anderson Ferdinand "A.F." Holcombe (1817-1851)
Find A Grave# 158707783 (same as above)
Addie Mae (Cauley) Lee (1914-2003)
Find A Grave# 157817031
Francis Marion Lee (1912-1972
Find A Grave# 155513458 (DC indicates burial there)
Lucille (Kirkland) Surratt (1902-1976)
Find A Grave# 158751035
Alice (Gholson) Lee (1884-1947) (my great grandmother)
Find A Grave# 155511922 (DC indicates burial there)
Effie Cecil (Lee) Tims (1897-1985) (my great aunt, sister of Morris Westbrook Lee)
Find A Grave# 157537445 (suspected as buried there)
Morris Westbrook Lee (1910-1987)
Myrtie (Cox) Lee (1905-1986)
I attended their funerals, and know they are there.
Lena Beatrice (Hudgins) Cox (1909-1928)
Find A Grave# 157938141
Lena Beatrice Hudgins married Ernest Oliver Cox; Sunday 11 December 1927 in Linden, Cass County, Texas.
The couple were married only eight months and nineteen days when she passed away from complications due to a miscarriage.
Lena's Certificate of Death gives no indication as to where she was buried.
It's seems reasonable that she should be buried in the vicinity of Ernest Cox. Maybe not...who knows.
If, and when you find out anything, let me know.
Again, please don't go out of your way to do this unless you really want to go out there and have a look.
I do appreciate your interest, and willingness to investigate.
Respectfully - This Old Scarecrow
|This Old Scarecrow||Headstones continued|
I contacted "Enon" Baptist Church Association, and they feigned ignorance, and said the Center Grove Baptist Church is in no way connected, or associated with the cemetery.
They suggested I contact the Cass County clerk's office for information on burials there...and they said "Sure, we'll research burials there for you...for a FEE".
I already have access to the DC's, I just want to know "who knows who's buried there", before keeping accurate public records.
Somebody knows; the caretaker, I mean, you have to know how many available plots there are...right?
And where they're at...right?
And who's occupying the existing one's...right?
I know this is an old cemetery, and records get shuffled, and sometimes misplaced, but certainly someone over at Center Grove is responsible, and knows the score (I hope).
Any idea who that might be ?
