I live in Newton, Iowa and will be happy to locate and photograph markers in my area.|
I retired from the Air Force August 1 2009 after 26 years of service as a Master Sergeant. I am also a member of the Rapid City, South Dakota Masonic Lodge #25 and the NAJA Shriners.
Photography is my hobby/passion. I will try to fulfill as many requests as possible with quality photos. I enhance all photos to provide the best quality I can.
I trim grass covering markers and sweep off debris to enable a clear view of the marker. I photograph the entire marker as well as a close up of the name inscription. Past experience I have learned people like to see the entire marker and not just a close up of the inscription. I also photograph the back of the marker if there is any inscription on the back.
I NEVER rub chalk or other substances on markers. Chalk will DAMAGE a marker and speed the deterioration of the stone. I use a foil technique that uses aluminum foil to enhance the inscription. This technique does not damage markers and actually works better than chalk.
I can e-mail the full size photos upon request.
I recently became a member of the Jasper County, Iowa Cemetery Commission.
I am interested in my family genealogy surnames of Bickle, Baker, Hoy, Kintz, Plumb, Rinard, Bladwin and several others.
I have entered memorial pages for all

|Steve Hanken||RE: Iowa Veteran's Home Cemetery Additions|
I would appreciate it if you would improve the photos I sent. I have been doing cemeteries with Civil War graves for a number of years and these are some of the first ones I shot and did it on the quick several years ago. Granted, they are far from perfect, but a photo is better than no photo, and that was what I was after when I sent them. I also noted some of the graves have been replaced since I shot these, so you know it was a while ago that I did the work and the graves were barely readable at the time, hopefully they to have been replaced.

Ok, the person who made this memorial said for some reason that there was another marker for this baby in Hot Springs, and I think that is not true, there are two, the on in Custer Park and the one at Fairburn, I didn't know they were for the same baby until now, lol Thanks for your help in resolving this.

any thing about a Baby Mann stone that you took a picture of in HOt Springs, I am assuming in is in Evergreen Cemetery but I don't know. He has a maker in Custer Park, where he died and apparently has one in Fairburn as well? I can find no documentation for a stone in Hot Springs but you seem to have a picture? 23516625 Harry Blanks took the one in Fairburn, I have recently gotten edit from a person who knew nothing about the situation.
Wow! Thank you for the excellent headstone photo for Nathan Bascom. It turned out great! If you could do all my photo requests I would be happy as can be. I really appreciate the photo, its too bad there were no dates on the stone, however, because of your photo I am able to link a child to her father. Keep up the great work. THANKS!!
