Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi there! I have been doing genealogical research on my own family for about six years now, and I am hooked! I absolutely love uncovering more information about my ancesters! I have to squeeze in this new hobby as I don't have a lot of time to devote to it, or at least as much as I would like! :) I am married to my best friend Greg, have four grown children, two grown stepsons, 10 grandchildren, a border collie and a cat. I am retired but currently working part-time, volunteer at church activities, and now volunteer as a find a grave photographer. So, needless to say, life is pretty interesting! I am very blessed to have such a full life. I love helping others, so if there is anything I can do to help a fellow genealogist, just let me know. I am as accurate and thorough as I can be with valuable information, and I take the best photos I can get of the gravesite. God bless you! Connie

Alexander Fair
My great great grandfather is Alexander Fair. I have no information except what I got from other researchers about his ancestors.

According to Mrs. Ross peabody (Mollie Fair's daughter) Alexander Fair came to Illinois when he was quite young as a "bond boy" which meant he was reared by foster parents. He had no recollection of his birth, home or family. He married Susan Chatham from the vicinity of Laclade, Illinois

Alexander Fair had an 80 acre farm in the Mitchell Creed bottom, and on a hill south-east of Herrick. They had a large two-story frame house.

(The legal description : NW 1/4 of Sec. 2 and E. 1/2 lot 2 of the NE 1/4 of sect. 23 in township 8 NR East of the 3rd P.M. in Fayette Co. Illinois).

in the 1870 Census records he is listed as being 33 yrs old then in 1880 he is listed as being 46, This puts him born either in 1837 or 1834

If you have anymore information I would love to see it. I also through the years was told he was from Tennessee originally, how true that is I don't know.

Eva Valieta [Fair] Ridlen
Hello fellow genealogist. I too find genealogy fascinating. I started in 1970 when my daughter was born. I'm glad to see you enjoy it too.

Did you know that many years ago a book was written about Eva V. Fair. It is a fascinating and heart wrenching story of her life struggles. For obvious reasons her name and the names if her family were changed to protect their privacy. The book is called "The Trial & Triumphs of Eva Grant" by Effie M. Williams. A pdf copy of it can be found here:

http://www.churchofgodeveninglight.com/wp-content/uploads/Trials-and-Triumphs-of-Eva-Grant.pdf

It's not a very pretty picture of her family life but illustrates a young woman's courage if face of adversity.

In the back of the book is a testimonial by a person who knew Eva. She told that Eva was buried in the Fairview Cemetery near St. Elmo, Ill. That is how I found Eva's true identity.

Yours

RE: James McReynolds
I believe you sent a request for the headstone photo of James M. McReynolds (in Marrowbone Cemetery, Bethany, Moultrie County, IL). I did find the headstone for James V. McReynolds, but not James M. McReynolds.

I am going to try to get out to the cemetery tomorrow (or Sunday) to verify, but I believe the findagrave memorial may have been created from the transcription book published in 1972 by the Decatur Genealogical Society (and the update in 1998 was copied by the original publication since there were only a couple new burials in the old section). I am in the process of going through the information on the record cards from the Cemetery office -- and the entry for James M. McReynolds in the transcription book fits the information for "James M. Smith" on our cards (same for Clara McReynolds should be Clara Smith). SO, Long story short, I will go out to the cemetery to verify if this specific location is a James & Clara SMITH or James & Clara McREYNOLDS. Also, the photo for James V. McReynolds has been uploaded to the correct memorial. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly at aawm720@gmail.com

RE: McReynolds-Wear Family
I did find a Weir/Wear connection to the Fair family. Sarah's nephew, Ranking Young Wear, son of David Milton Wear was married to Serena Frances Fair daughter of John and Louisa Sharp Fair. I found this in a book on the Weir family, it's called "Weir/Wear Families, From Here & There to the White House," Compiled by Olga Jones Edwards and JoAnn Wear Spore. I'll keep looking.

RE: McReynolds-Wear Family
Connie,
I am a descendant of the McReynolds and Weir (like contraction "we're" not "ware") families but have not found any that had indentured servants in my direct line. If you tell me your ancestors name, I'll see what I can find.

RE: Mc
Hi Connie, my grandfather was Robert A, his father Robert G with his father Robert Joseph my 2nd Great Grandfather and Sarah Mary Elizabeth Weir was my 2nd Great Grandmother. I don't remember all the history so will have to do some checking. My Dad started the family history and my mother is the McReynolds. My sister and I took over after our Dad passed away. Would love trading information. My email address is rj.neview@sbcglobal.net.
