Hi Eva,
Thank you for making an entry for my Aunt Lois. I am the daughter of her brother Alan. I noticed in your post that you wondered what ever happened to her ashes and I'm happy to be able to answer that question for you. When my dad said Bob had her cremated and there was not going to be a service for her I was very upset at both him and Bob. I felt that she would never be at peace so long as she was in Bob's company. So about a month later, at Christmas I drove from my home in Wisconsin with my babies, they were 3 and 5 yrs old, and went to her house in Arvada to pick her up. Bob gave me her ashes. When I was a little girl she used to take me to the Shrine of Mother Cabrini every summer. We loved it there. Mother Cabrini helped our family when they were Italian immigrants new to this country. So the girls and I prayed, we lit candles in the chapel and climbed to the top of the shrine and sprinkled her ashes over the mountains. We still talk about that day! They are 21 and 19 yrs old now. Thank you Eva for being such a dear friend to her. She spoke of you often.

All the best,
Kim

Solomon Soper Jr.
Hello Eva Goeken
Solomon Soper Jr. had a daughter Caroline Matilda Soper I haven't found Caroline on Find a grave but she is on Ancestry.com I believe her mother was Mary Ann Soper born in Canada.
Caroline married Edwin Thurber Daniels
they had 9 children one of who/whom was my great great grandfather Robert F. Daniels #29133697
I see Sarah Allen Soper Buck's mother was Patty Soper Robert Allen's first wife. I couldn't find her on Find A Grave any info on her? Do you have a family tree of the Sopers on Ancestry.com?

I noticed the Sarah and Gideon Buck's children are calculated as one star instead of two. Wouldn't Solomon jr. be their half brother?

Thank you very much.

RE: Mable May Russell
The headstone to the left of the flag is Grave 2 West so Mable has to be right there by the tree in 1 West. Numbering starts on the north side of the lots.

RE: Vinnie Dieter (Ash) Russell
I came across an article on John Howe Russell that I thought you might be interested in, if you haven't already seen it. It's a short biography of him I found on page 469 in the "History of Custer County, Nebraska" dated 1919.

You can see it on this digitized copy of the book at: http://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=loc.ark:/13960/t55d93r68;view=1up;seq=471. Or just Google Hathi Trust and then when on their web page, type in the name of the book in their search box. When the book pulls up, be sure to look at the one with a 1919 publication date. Then jump to page 469.

Notably, his first wife is not mentioned in the short biography. Vinnie's first marriage is mentioned but not his. Do you know if he was divorced from Helena Slade, or did she die? I can't seem to find anything else about her - not her parents or her date of death or remarriage.

RE: Vinnie Dieter (Ash) Russell
Hi,

Thank you for following up and checking for exact date of death Vinnie Dieter (Ash)Russell.

Could you please let me know when you have any new information on her and/or when you update her Find-A-Grave memorial? I'd really appreciate that.

And it would be great if you could add all the marriages of John Howe Russell to his Find-A-Grave memorial, if you agree with the information I provided you.

I will anxiously await confirmation of Vinnie Dieter (Ash) Russell's exact date of death or at least exact year of death.

I am assuming, that to your knowledge, Vinnie Dieter (Ash) Russell and John Howe Russell were not divorced.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Vinnie Dieter (Ash) Russell
Hello,

First, I want to thank you for all the work you have done in posting on Find-A-Grave.

I would like to know how you arrived at 1926 as the date of death for Vinnie Dieter (Ash) Russell. Was this on her tombstone?

The reason I ask this is I believe/know John Howe Russell was married at least four times.

His first marriage was to Helena Slade on December 25, 1902 in Lancaster County, Nebraska.

His second marriage was to Vinnie Dieter Ash on June 3, 1906 in Custer County, Nebraska.

His third marriage was to Mable May Ledwith on April 4, 1925 in Denver, Denver County, Colorado. I'll get back to her in a second.

His fourth marriage was to Edna Catherine Barger on August 28, 1937 in Larimer County, Colorado.

Mable May Ledwith was born in 1886 in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois. She was married three times:

Her first marriage was to Victor Hugo King on October 31 1907 in Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado. This marriage ended in divorce.

He second marriage was to Robert Reuben/Rubin Watkins (my relative) on December 23, 1912 in Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado. This marriage also ended in divorce.

Her third marriage was to John Howe Russell on April 4, 1925 in Denver, Denver County, Colorado.

This is the reason I question your date of death for Vinnie Dieter (Ash) Russell of 1926. I am not aware if John Howe Russell and Vinnie Dieter Ash were divorced. Do you know? That would also explain the date discrepancy. But if no divorce, then I think your date of death is wrong.

Mable May (Ledwith) Russell died (still married to John Howe Russell, I believe - but need to find an obituary on her to prove it) April 27, 1927 in Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado and was buried April 28, 1927 in Mountain View Cemetery, Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado.

Any help you can give me to resolve this discrepancy or refute my assertion that she was a spouse of your John Howe Russell, would be greatly appreciated.

And again, many thanks for contributing to Find-A-Grave.

And I will ask, and you can always say NO, if you live near Pueblo, Colorado and could look up Mable May (Ledwith) Russell's obituary for me, I would be ever so appreciative. I live in Michigan and can not "easily" do that. Many thanks for all your work.

Seneca Allen
Hi Eva,

I came across your information about Seneca Allen from Brownell Cemetery in Washington County, New York (DOD is 7/31/1822).

I have a line I'm working on that ends in Cambridge, Washington, New York. My GGG Grandmother's name is Hannah Allen, born in Cambridge in 1815. We don't know her parents. The dates are such that this could be her father. I was wondering what you could tell me about the children you have listed there and any other insight you have or sources I could go to.

Thanks,

Ben
