Please feel free to take any photos that I attach and upload them to your family tree. You do not need to ask my permission or credit me for the photograph.|
I live in the East Riding of Yorkshire in England and am willing to look for graves etc in the local area.
I am trying to make a full record of the cemeteries I live near and am using local history records to add in the details for headstones which I cannot read or are missing. I started this when tracing my own family tree and my aim is to help anyone tracing their family. I do not want to upset anyone, so if anyone wants me to remove or transfer memorials please let me know.
Tip (Copied from England Discussion Forum):
To do a search for cemetery or churchyard in a particular county go to cemetery search and begin with a full search for all in England. Find-A-Grave will say that there are too many records and that you should go back and refine the search so that it returns fewer results. Ignore this and in the address bar at the top of the screen, where the url reads:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=csr&CScn=&CScntry=5&CSst=0 replace the 0 at the end with one of the following codes. There may still be several pages of cemeteries in the list for the county, but it is easier to look through
4216 County Durham
4811 East Riding of Yorkshire
4217 East Sussex
4220 Greater London
5248 Greater Manchester
4226 Isle of Wight
4233 North Yorkshire
4240 South Yorkshire
4244 Tyne and Wear
5249 West Midlands
4247 West Sussex
4248 West Yorkshire

Using your photo of Rebecca White, Memorial# 95937614 grave stone, I used my software to enhance the photo and was able to read most of it. The edits I provided are from the marker transcription.
Frederick William White, Memorial# 95937689, her husband is buried in St Mark's Churchyard, Leeds.

What a great job you do. Before finding this memorial myself with great difficulty, I did not know you had documented it. John Rainforth is my great uncle 4 times removed and I discovered from the stone that not only was his first wife Mary Ann who died in 1844 interred in Gainsborough, but that the memorial is also to his second wife Martha who died in 1896, of course in addition to his own death in 1872. It fills in many gaps in family history and it is of course essential these memorials are recorded.

My grandfather passed in WWII and the photo you posted of his memorial is the first time I or any of my family has seen it. He passed shortly after my mother was born and she never knew him.
Being residents of the Canada and the US, we have never been able to make it over to England. And as my mother is getting on in years, she may not make it at all.
Your photo brought him just that much closer to us. Thank you very much.

|chapman clanner||Edwin Cawthorne lineage|
My grandfather was Francis Edwin Cawthorne(b.1900) and his father was John J. Cawthorne a/k/a "Caulhorne" (d.1910)from Leeds and Yorkshire. I was wondering if the Edwin Cawthorne memorial you posted might be the person my grandpa was partially named after? Their family is hard to trace since they changed the surname from the wealthy mining Churley family name to the wife's maiden name Cawthorne around 1890. Thanks much.

actually died as Mrs Florence Johnson, she married Leslie J H Johnson in 1952 but her first marriage was to Bert Fenner in 1922 - she was born in Colchester 10 Oct 1898 and is the daughter of James and Sarah Anderson mentioned below! ;-)

Hi Charlie :)
I fleshed out the memorial for my grand uncle, Percy George Harris # 86176763. Have a look if you get a chance. I placed a happy thanks to you at the bottom of his biography.

Just wondering if I am able to use some of your photos that I have seen on "Find a Grave" to place on a website I am doing for Anzac 2015 here in Australia.

Hi Charlie :)
Thank you so much for this memorial. I would be thankful if you can transfer this memorial to me. I would like to acknowledge you as the original creator of this memorial but I am able to add a wealth of biographical details to this entry.
Rachel Williams (Percy's grandniece) :)
