I started doing genealogy just a few years ago and I'm still working on getting the family straightened out. I never realized how addicting the hobby is. So when I feel more comfortable with my family I hope to start being a photo volunteer. Who would have thought that spending time in graveyards would be fun!

Lela Parks
Lela Watts Parks 91821362 is the daughter of Emma Barton Watts & Charles Watts and married Vernon Parks 91821406.

Alta Watts Parks 78558120 is the daughter of Emma Barton Watts & Charles Watts and married Francis Parks. (This is where you get the name "Francis".)

Emma & Charles are also parents of Wilbur Barton Watts 34793026, married to Anna Masden Mosher (34793261), my wife Averil Mosher Merritt's aunt.

Harry Dale Watts 73704281 is also the son of Charles and Emma Watts. He was married to Dorothy Laura Watson Watts who just passed away September 6, 2012. She was 96 years old.

Lela Parks
Averil doesn't know if she has a direct relationship with Emma & Charles or not. Bob Barton (Robert Walter Barton) and his wife are planning to be here for lunch tomorrow and will ask them about Lela Parks. (Her name "Frances" and relationship to Charles & Emma Watts.)

Bob is a direct decedent of (1) Azure Barton - (2) Linn Barton - (3) Walter Barton - (4) Robert W. Barton.

Also a son of Lela W. Parks & Vernon Parks is Carroll Parks in Mount Pleasant, IA.

I can not find in the family history that Lela W. Parks was an relation to the Barton family. At least Averil does not think so. Will let you know if this weekend we find anything different.

Thank you for the information. I did notice one item that you will want to correct in your records. Riverside is in Washington County (not Fremont). Best Wishes, Bill

William Canby
William Canby #73749398 was a member of the 4th Iowa Cavalry. Kent Kooi and I have been researching the men of the 4th Iowa Cavalry for over two years. In addition to updating their memorials, we are preparing a presentation to donate to several county historical societies.

We would like to ask permission to use your headstone photo of William Canby on his page in our project. We would credit the photo as "Courtesy of G.L.Fenton" or your full name if you don't mind providing.

Please let me know, and thank you for taking and uploading the photo.

Hi Geri
My guess would be that the ground settled and they filled it in with dirt and seeded it.
Hope this helps,
Mo
