I began searching my family tree about 38 years ago. However, I did not go very far. Only a few generations of names and possible burial sites. Now the relatives that had those answers have long since passed on. |
I rekindled the desire in 2010 when I meant the DT Questers at a meeting with Ingham Township to have them catalog the Howard Cemetery. My parents, both sets of grandparents and one set of great grandparents are buried there. Find a Grave has been very helpful in my recent searches.
My desire now is to work with information on my decedents in the West, Aseltine,Every and Meredith families. I want to update their memorials. Getting more complete dates and events in their lives into the memorials. Hopefully, this will make other relatives search for their roots a little easier to follow.
My second goal is to get as much information about the Howard Cemetery as possible and post on the memorials. I have found quite a few more burials in this cemetery from my research. No records are available. My findings have been through old obituaries and burial permits.
I have been searching old area newspapers and books. I've found more information about my relatives and the people related to them. This has given me more leads to follow. While looking up these articles, I have found many others of people in the area. I have been adding them to their memorials. I hope this will help others find more information about their searches.

|Jeff Gray||Julia Ann Teall|
Hi Connie. May I have your permission to copy the obit you attached to the page for Julia Ann? I'd like to attach it to my page for her on Ancestry. It was just today I found that she and her sister Susan had survived to adulthood and both eventually married Ira Teall. And then I found your find-a-grave page to boot. She is a pretty close relation to me in the Brown family. Thank you. Jeff Gray

Connie, thank you very much for posting the very nice obituary of Dr. Walker. I was then able to find in the Riverside California Daily Press on GenealogyBank.com, 12 Social and Club Events articles with her named in them.

Hello, I noticed that you uploaded a picture of Pete's obit to his memorial page. Are you related to him somehow, or friend to the family?

Yes, Ines married and divorced many times. So did her sister, my great-grandmother. Both used 'extreme cruelty' at least once as the reason. I'm not sure if that really meant beatings or if that was the only allowable excuse.

Thanks for great-aunt Ines' divorce article and others you have left in Find A Grave. Barbara
|A84C72||RE: George Barnhart|
You are welcome! George is a great uncle (to a few degrees) to a friend whose line I am working;). For some reason, though, when I came across Lucy and Orrin, the names sounded SO familiar! I'm also doing lines for three other friends who are very native to the Lansing/Ingham County area. I've seen so many cross-overs of people in these lines...I bet Lucy is in one of the other lines in working! Love this stuff!!! :)

Hello, Clifford is my Great Grandfather. I really appreciate you posting the obituraty. I had hit a wall and couldn't find when he died or where he is buried. Do you have any additional information about him? Are you related and if so how are you related? One last thing, I couldn't find a death certificate for him in http://seekingmichigan.org/discover/death-records. Any information you have I would appreciate you passing on.
Again thanks so much for posting Clifford's obituary.

|Kathleen Bacher||Alice Morrow|
First I want to say how impressed I am with your site. Great information and very helpful I believe that I can add to it. The information that I have is that Alice Iphegenia Morrow, widow of Benjamin W Wells is the daughter of Joseph Morrow & Anna Marie Truax. She was born in Brock Twp., Ontario, Canada, and shows up on the 1861 census in Canada as age 2, name Euphemia Morrow. In 1871 her family is in Fenelon Twp, Victoria County, Ontario, Canada and she is listed as age 10, name Alice. Alice's father disappeared in 1879, presumed dead, and her mother died in 1883 and according to the obituary for Benjamin W Wells she was married in Michigan in 1885. So she must have travelled to Michigan some time in that period between the 1871 census and 1885. After Benjamin's death in 1903, she married Alfred William Colley on 18 Dec 1905. Our record indicate that she died in Toronto in 1902. I have lots more on her family and would love to share.
