Bio Photo Geneology and my love of photography are joined together in documenting and connecting families here and past. My brother helps clean up old and unvisited cemeteries in Montague county where I was born. My sister and I are continuing the geneology started by our mother tracing the family of: ALIG, BASS, BAYER, BEHL, BEST, BEYER, CLER, EISENMENGER, FETSCH, FLUSCHE, GILLES, KLEISS, HOENIG, HARTMAN, HAUSMANN, HETTINGER, KAPPES, KOELZER, KOBLITZ, NEU, NEWMAN, OTTO, ROEDER, RUND, SCHAFER, SCHWEIGHART, SOMMERS, VOGEL, WALTERSCHEID, and their descendents.

Benjamin Franklin said: "Show me your burial grounds and I'll show you a measure of the civility of a community."

Bart Cragun has you listed as one of his friends on Find A Grave. Did you know he had passed away?

I discovered his grave during an inventory of the Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial cemetery in Ogden UT.

His memorial is 151555223, should you want to visit. I notified Find A Grave of his death, should anyone click on his name. It will take you to a condolence link.

RE: Merrow E. Sorley
Fort Porter was constructed between 1841 and 1844 at Buffalo in Erie County, New York and named for General Peter Buell Porter. The site was bounded by Porter Avenue, Busti Avenue and the Erie Barge Canal. It was initially a square masonry two-story redoubt, 62 feet square, with crenelated walls surrounded by large earthworks and moat.

RE: Merrow E. Sorley
His passport application in his own handwriting has Fort Porter which was located in Erie County in New York which contradicts your edit.

I have added county for place of death manually and will decline your edit for place of birth as it is contradicted by a primary source.

Merrow E. Sorley
Find A Grave Memorial# 126741521

Your edit:
Birth Place:
Niagara County
New York, USA

According to his West Point biography he was born at Fort Porter which is in Erie County, New York.

Therefore, can you please furnish a source of information for the birthplace as Niagara County?

Thank you for your help.
