Bio and Links
Bio Photo Over the past thirty five years, our extended family has researched, identified, located, and documented our direct lineage ancestors and their inter-married collateral families. In this regard, Find-A-Grave has provided an excellent forum in which to research, identify, locate, document, link and to share generations of families with their ancestors and to their descendants.

We are interested in the relationships between these families before they emigrated to America, whereever, and if any, and in the new relationships they forged with allies, neighbors, social and political alliances, through their marriages, in the art of business, trade, economics and commerce, throughout the politics of war, and in their migrations over time.

Our keen interest is in linking our direct lineage ancestors to their immigrant ancestors from generation to generation.

In this endeavor, we strive to share as much documented known information about each ancestor for whom we have created a memorial with the express purpose of sharing what is known to enable other researchers to identify those members within their and within our own common intermarried families.

To be sure by the third generation our ancestors may also be your ancestors, and if we kindly decline a request for a transfer it is simply because our direct lineage ancestors are in common to your family and the memorial already created may simply be edited with your additional biographical information or your family photographs you may wish to share with others interested in our families.

To this end, if we have created a memorial for a common family ancestor and you have additional documented biographical information you'd like to add, please email and we will be happy to add your information and to cite you as a source. If you sponsor a memorial we have created for a common ancestor, we take this opportunity to thank you for your consideration of our efforts and acknowledge your generosity. If you have kindly donated your time, efforts and diligence in searching a cemetery to aid us in documenting through photographs our ancestors, we are gratefully indebted to you.

Our direct line ancestors include Abercrombie; Alford / Holford / Olford / Oldford; Amistead / Armstead / Armistead; Atwell / Autwell / Atwood; Baker; Bell; Descendants of Benjamin Brown, of Albemarle County, Virginia; Burt / Burtz of Abbeville, Newberry & Edgefield Counties in South Carolina; Atwell / Autwell; Bolt; Butler; Cole; Cook; Crumpton; Dabney; Darymple; Davis; Dial; Doggett; Driver; Flanders; Floyd; Garland; Green; Griffin / Griffith / Gryffth; Harrison; Hill; Hinesley / Hindsley / Hynsley; Horsley / Horsly / Horsely; Hudgins / Hudgeons / Hudgens / Hutchison; Huff; Jefferson; Jennings; Jones; Lewis; Lindley / Lindly; Love; Lovelace / Loveless; Mayo; McCarty; McCaw; McMichael; Meadows; Mitchell; Myddleton / Mydleton / Middleton; Norwood; Outwell / Otwell / Oatwell; Oberby / Overbey / Overbay/ Overbury / Patton; Preston; Rooks; Rose; Russell; Scoggin / Scoggins / Scroggins; Scott; Smith; Snowden / Snowdon; Teague; Thomas; Thomasson / Tomaston / Thomaston; Tomson / Thomason / Thomson / Thompson; Thrower; Tomson; Waddy; Washington; Descendants of Jacob Weldon of New Castle; Wheeldon, Weldon, Wheldon, Whdin, Wheldon; White; Williams; and Young / Yonge.

In the south, and along the eastern seaboard coast, our families were Congregationalists, Puritans, Separatist Baptists, Baptists, Primitive Baptists, Quakers, Anglicans, Lutherans and we were of the Jewish faith when they emigrated; we later became Methodists, United Methodist, Baptists, Southern Baptists, Independent Baptists, and Primitive Baptists. Our legions of ancestors include ministers in every known Christian religion of the time in early colonial American history.

Our research into our direct lineage families in the south and along the eastern seaboard coast emigrated from Scotland, Ireland, Germany, England to New Castle, Delaware; to Chester County and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; to early tidewater counties in eastern Virginia, into the Cumberland mountains; from Charlottesville, Virginia, Albemarle County, Orange County, into Halifax, Nach, Edgecombe, Robeson Counties, across into the Cape Fear areas of North Carolina, into the Welsh Tract of the Little & Great Pee Dee Rivers, across Marion, Dorchester, early Charles Town, early Berkeley, early Craven, Marlboro, Dorchester, Camden, Chester, Union, Edgefield, Laurens, Abbeville, Anderson, Pendleton District, Newberry, Greenville, Orangeburg, Richland, and York Counties, into St. Paul's Parish, Elbert, Columbia, early Greene, Richmond, Wilkes, Jasper, Cobb, Henry, Heard, Douglas, and Carroll Counties in Georgia, Clay, Coosa, Jefferson, Cleburne, Calhoun, Benton counties in Alabama, Mississippi Texas, and beyond....

Richard Griffin/Mary Jane Griffin
Find A Grave Memorial# 151388281

My direct ancestors include Richard Griffin Sr. and his son Ralph (brother to Richard Griffin 1720-1777). Most of the information I have came from another cousin.

I see the work posted on Richard Jr. and some of his children. Is this your work? You indicate that they are buried in the Mullis Family Cemetery. Is this an existing cemetery or a location set up for tribute? I know in some cases family cemeteries got lost to future settlements.

Thanks for the work.

Find A Grave Memorial# 97918593
I noticed that his grave and his wife's are listed in John Thompson Family Cemetery, or something similar, in Union, Union County, SC. Is this an actual cemetery or something set up on Find a Grave for a burial place whose exact location is unknown?

Would you make a correction on memorial 56996226 Simeon Whatley Meadows. You have death year as 1855, while in his bio you have him marrying a second time in 1859 which would be impossible.

General James Williams
Hi, I noticed that you have his death information incorrect. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Kings Mountain on October 7th 1780 and died the next day. The battle took place on a mountain in South Carolina named for its owner. The town of Kings Mountain, about 11 miles north of the battlefield wasn't created until 1874 and took its name from the battle.

General James Williams died at Kings Mountain Battlefield and was originally buried there. This was "Indian lands" sparsely settled by colonists during the Revolutionary War. This area became Pickney District, South Carolina in 1795 and was further broken into counties in 1798 and the area the battlefield is in became York County. The mountain was never in North Carolina.

My sources are: "The Patriots at Kings Mountain" by Bobby Gilmer Moss, Phd.; Google maps; The city website of Kings Mountain, NC; "The Handybook for Genealogist", www.mapofus.org.

I have made an edit request. I hope that you choose to accept the changes.

Thank you,
Dan Woodruff, President of the South Carolina Society Sons of the American Revolution 2014-2015.

Reuben Griffin
You are the person maintaining the site for Reuben Griffin #29455380. It listes his executors Anthony Griffin, and John King Griffin and Testors Christopher Griffin son of David Griffin, brother to Reuben father Richard and uncle William.
My question is where did you find that and can you send me where to see theinformation or send me copies of the above? My DNA liknks very closely to Christopher Griffin and we are trying to prove the connection. WE can not find any information about David Griffin having Christopher as a son. Thanks you Lin Griffin Halbrooks
