Bio Photo One of my Wray ancestors gave the broach in my photo to his bride-to-be. If you know anything about antique jewelry and can tell me how old it is I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!

The Dash Poem, by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash.

RE: Johnson Brothers
Adding the comments was fine. I'm sure people are curious when they see two children who died on the same day.

It's so sad for the family.

If you find out for sure, let me know. I was asked where I got it, and the only place I found it in mh records was findagrave.

Grave Transfer
Thank you for the grave transfer.I do not understand why monuments have incorrect dates sometimes..But my very own maternal grandmother has her birth date of 1880 instead of 1879..simply because my mothers sister gave incorrect info.

Thank You and may you have a wonderful week!

RE: Findagrave Photos
Thanks for the information! The photos are great for verifying dates. I have visited lots of cemeteries myself and written the dates down only to find out later I had made a mistake (all of this before computers and the internet were available). Of course, the dates on the markers could be wrong too but it is somewhere to start. Becky

RE: Findagrave Photos
Thank you! Right now I am working on my Cleveland side and have found Cannons etc that are kin. Joseph E Irvin was married to Idella Cannon. She is buried in Spalding County, Georgia but he is buried in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Lamar County, Alabama. She was his second wife (I think, because some of his children appear to be older than she was). There may be others as I still researching. Becky
