Bio and Links
Bio Photo Father of four, two surviving, grandfather of two, and a believer that looking backwards is a bad way to drive a car, but a great way to value life, at least when we appreciate the gifts to us all that our forebears left us.

I'm also a bit of a scavenger, and a puzzle solver. I have to thank my grandfather's first wife, Ila Madine Kiser Stilson, whose initials on her gift to him nearly a hundred years ago today ("IK to FS {19}'09) were the only clue I had in this world to the mystery of her identity. Can't wait to meet her, after a few more years of this life, that is. His love for her reminded me that we owe a lot to those who went before us, even those we don't yet know.

What an honor to share photos and locations of burial sites of friends' relatives.

Abagail D Calkins
I am getting very confused. i have an Abagail Calkins with the same name and birth dates and death date as the son of Truman D Calkins, I have found the same pictures purporting to support both fathers. there is one record of an Abagail D with different dates and Aaron as the father. Can you straighten it out? also on ancestry as tomsamoyed.

You are very welcome! I know -- the same thing happens to me. Even being retired has not stopped it.

RE: Merritt Stilson (#64178821)
Hi, David,

It took me longer to find the time to post the picture of Merritt Stilson's grave than it did to go and get it. As I suspected, he lies in an unmarked grave. I have added a detailed caption to the photo, and to his biography, so that anyone visiting his memorial will know what they are looking at in the picture.

Sorry for the delay,

Sue Ann

Hi, David,

Thank you for the information. I have added it to his memorial, tidied up the other Stilson memorials in this cemetery, talked to the cemetery staff to get a duplicate sorted, left them all flowers, looked at his ancestors, and mapped his location. I will be going out today or tomorrow to photograph his grave. Based on his location in the cemetery, and the fact that there is not already a picture, I venture the guess that he is likely in an unmarked grave. I photograph those, though.

Examining the other Stilson graves, I found something I have never seen before on Findagrave, but which will eventually become common. One lady is listed as being a later spouse of another Stilson lady. And as they also put it in the obit, I guess they meant it. Fascinating, as it was 70--80 years ago.

Your email has occupied my day, but I have enjoyed it. Happy Graving!

Thank You - Sister Leo Mary Picture

Sorry for the delay but wanted to let you know I really appreciate you taking the time to go out and get the picture of Aunt Shirley's grave marker. I live in Virginia and although we visit the Philadelphia area occasionally, getting back to this cemetery may not have happened for some time.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the photo. I was just there a few weeks ago and I don't think any of the 2014 stones were in place.

That cemetery is pretty well photographed thanks to your extra effort. Cheers.

RE: Elizabeth A Wilmer Lardner
There's too many Wilmers married to Lardners.
Are you related to the Lardners, or just posting names?

RE: George and Sophia Russel Memorials
Thank you. I feel the memorials are in good hands. Even thought in a country setting, the Fairview Cemetery is fenced and well kept. Find A Grave has presented a great way to preserve the final resting place of our ancestors.
