I begin visiting graves in central Alabama for personal family research. I know where 99.9% of all cemeteries are located and am willing to look for and submit (email) photographs (jpeg format) to any with requests. Email me email@example.com|

Mike, I saw your post about wanting to know where the Old Doris Cemetery is. I took many photos there last year. I have them posted on my facebook albums...https://www.facebook.com/annhornsbyjones
also here is the link I used to go to the cemetery. I put it in my GPS and it took me right to it... Channa Creek Rd which goes into
129 Hollis Ferry Rd, Tallassee, AL
or google it to find a map .. it is around Kent Rd. Dean Circle, Upper River Rd. if you have not already located it, hope this helps....

Here is the best I can do off of memory but it will get you close ;-)
Go on the Upper River Road from downtown Tallassee heading towards Kent (County Road 44). Go until you see County Road 46 on the Right (Dean Circle). Take that right and the road should kind of come to a fork and you'll see a water tower across the road. Stay to the right there and it should turn into Hollis Ferry Road. It should turn into dirt but keep going straight and the dirt road will fork and in the middle will be Old Doris Chapel Cemetery.
Take in mind these directions are coming from the Jail house in Tallassee heading towards Kent.

Annie's: Joseph Abner "Abb" Holt and Bessie Elizabeth Mann.
Mattie's: Elijah Lee Golden and Martha Melinda Rodgers.
Annie's parents are buried at Beulah Baptist and Mattie's parents are right down the road at Guthrie.

I don't have anything other than the two Ledbetter's that married some of my Great Aunts and thats it. Aaron Holt was Annie Holt Ledbetter's brother.
There was also a Churchel Marvin Ledbetter that married my Great Aunt Mattie Lou Golden, not sure if Marvin and Herbert were related or not.
Yea after I posted this up years ago I didn't know but my Mother quickly corrected me and I just haven't had a chance to edit it yet.
Are you kin to them? Annie's brother Aaron was my Grandfather. Herbert actually married my Mom, her Sister and Brother as well.

Hi Mike, do you know if your Thornton's have any relation to Jesse "Dutch" Thornton buried at Old Weogufka Cemetery?

I ran across one of your Elmore County headstone photographs, that of J. J. Pannell, in ancestry.com and then saw in your profile the extensive work you've done at Rose Hill Cemetery. My maternal G-G-Grandfather, A. Thomas Bowden, is buried at Rose Hill, but he appears to be one of the 300 unmarked graves the city librarian advised me about. She also reported an Eagle Boy Scout listing of all graves there done around 1991. Do you have knowledge of any Bowden's, particularly A. Thomas, buried there ?
