I search for graves in NW Louisiana and SW Arkansas.

My primary search area consists of Miller, Lafayette, and Columbia counties along the southwest border of Arkansas and Caddo, Bossier, Webster, and Claiborne parishes along the northwest border of Louisiana.

Lafayette County was created in 1827 from parts of Hempstead County.
Columbia County was created in 1852 from parts of Lafayette, Hempstead, and Ouachita counties.
Miller County was established in 1820. It ceased to exist in 1838 but returned in 1874, created from part of Lafayette County. So burials in Lafayette County before 1874 could actually be in Miller county now.

Claiborne Parish was created in 1828.
Caddo Parish was created in 1838.
Bossier Parish was created in 1843.
Webster Parish was created in 1871 from parts of Bienville, Bossier, and Claiborne Parishes. So burials in those three parishes prior to 1871 could actually be in Webster Parish now.

I am not related to any of the memorials I have added to Find-A-Grave. I will transfer management of memorial pages according to the Find-A-Grave guidelines, with allowances for common sense and my own discretion.

Please use the photos that I have posted to Find-A-Grave as you wish. No need to ask permission or give photo credit.

Some requests, advice, etc.

Please do not add a memorial to a cemetery if you are unsure if the burial is there. At least provide some rationale in the note section of the page or state that you are unsure the person is buried there. Adding a memorial page for a person who died in 1853 to a cemetery that didn't exist until 1940 is not good form.

Please don't knowingly create a duplicate memorial page.

It is unwise to be in a cemetery after dark. I say this because it is very easy to fall and injure yourself. In fact, it is quite easy to injure yourself in the daytime. I know....I've done it at least three times.

I wish that people wouldn't create a million memorial pages and then whine about being overloaded with edit and transfer requests. But if you are into that sort of thing, more power to you.

Respect the resting places of the dead.

Hi,
Thank you so much for attempting to photograph their markers. I had no idea they were buried behind a locked gate. I appreciate your efforts very, very much.

RE: Re: Find A Grave Correction: L. Payne
Hi, I wish you had not deleted your entries if you know for certiain the graves are in Welcome. It does not matter the date of the memorial if it's in the wrong cemetery; the one that is in the correct cemetery first is considered the original memorial entry even if made later than the one(s) in the wrong cemetery. That's also why older Burial Unknown memorials are merged into found grave location memorials even if they were created before the correct ones in the cemetery.

Hope you both can work it all out.

Thanks, Karyn

St Joe Pa.
I was curious where you got this Obituary as I am having trouble locating the town of St. Joe Pa. where, also curious about her native community growing up?
