|My son and I got into family genealogy research in early December 2010. He found my dad's memorial and headstone on the FindAGrave site. I joined Find A Grave to add a memorial for my mom and to upload a new double headstone photo with both names for both memorials.|
Being recently retired [July 2010], I decided be a volunteer photographer. The timing was awful, with the first requests popping up as our first nor'easter of the season was approaching.
My wife and I went out to take pictures at the Dalton/Main Street cemetery, Dalton MA, right after the storm. We had some success and were hooked.
I enjoy connecting with other contributors and helping with their photo requests and family research.
To those who are requesting a photo in a large cemetery, please take the time to get section and plot number from the cemetery office, if there is one. This may make the difference between a volunteer's trying to fulfill your request or going elsewhere.
You may use my photos for your personal use, such as family tree sites, e-mails to family, etc.; anything else - please contact me for permission. With the current file size limit (8MB), the uploaded photos are pretty hi res. I keep some of the original, raw files, so contact me by e-mail, if you need one.
Kelly Patenaude Townsend provided me with a DVD with thousands of photos from numerous Massachusetts cemeteries, which I will use to fulfill requests. Kelly is a registered nurse who contracts at facilities around the country, and she uses her free time to photograph cemeteries, wherever she is assigned. Before she moves on to her next assignment, she donates a CD with her photos to the local library and historical society.
When I use Kelly's photos, I give attribution in a caption to the photo. Note that her photos are generally low res, at less than 100kB. If you must have a higher res file, I recommend your creating a new request with a note that a hi-res photo is needed.

I just got home from work and will look at the postings. I cannot thank you enough! You went above and beyond! I will learn more about find-a-grave as time goes by. It is really a great site. I already help friends find local graves and do some of their genealogy for them.

Thank you so much for the photo of the grave of Ida and Jacob Badanes. Last we went there to take a photo the cemetery was closed. You have saved me another trip up to Massachusetts. Especially with the snow. Thank you again.

Thank you very much for taking time to get a picture of Nancy Canfield's tombstone. They fit the bill helping to tie her to the rest of the family.

You have posted a tombstone photo on the memorial for James Ford, #104115511. The tombstone is shared by his wife Rachel, so I would appreciate it if you could add the photo to her memorial as well, memorial #104115920. Thanks!
Thank you also for the Thomas, Annie and Effie Fielding photo. I very much appreciate all your efforts on my behalf.
