I am always happy to add additional information, create links, or make corrections to the memorials i have entered. I will try to do this as soon as possible. Please use the edit tab when sending the information. |
If I make a mistake on a memorial, it's just that--a mistake. If you find a mistake, I'll do my very best to get it corrected.
You have permission to use of my gravestone photos. All I ask is that I be given credit for taking the photo.
An explanation for some of the causes of death:
Bright's Disease - Any of several forms of disease of the kidney attended with albumin in the urine, including especially acute and chronic nonsuppurative nephritis.
Catarrh of Brain/ Catarrh of Head/ Catarrh of Stomach/ Catarrh on the Breast/ Catarrk Pneumonia) - An inflammatory affection of any mucous membrane, in which there are congestion, swelling, and an alteration in the quantity and quality of mucous secreted. In America, especially, a chronic inflammation of, and hypersecretion from the membranes of nose or air passages. Also an acute influenza, resulting from a cold and attended with cough, thirst, lassitude and watery eyes; also, the cold itself. Catarrh Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lung tissue associated with catarrh and with marked evidences of inflammation of the bronchial membranes - often chronic.
Consumption - A progressive wasting away of the body, especially that attended upon pulmonary phthisis, called pulmonary consumption; hence pulmonary phthisis or tuberculosis
Diphtheria is a deadly disease prevalent in the 1920's and earlier. It is a serious bacterial infection. The toxin accumulates in the nasal passages and is spread by coughing and sneezing.
Grippe - The influenza or epidemic catarrh
Scarlet fever is a childhood disease. It is a bacterial infection caused by specific bacteria and found in about 10 percent of persons with strep throat. Symptoms include high fever, a strawberry like tongue, and body rash. It can be prevented by habits of cleanliness - like hand washing.

|Maureen||John T. Petty memorial 34342500|
you added the photo to John T. Petty's memorial and there is a note that says 4 months 26 days. However if you look under the date of death it say age it kind of looks like a 6 then the 4 mos and 26 days. Is there any way you can check on this. I can not get close enough to read it.

|Ronald Nissen||Hilmer George Nissen 153370005|
Hilmer's Memorial appears to be linked to the wrong parents. My uncle is George Nissen, 44299729 and My aunt,Hilda, 44299754. Perhaps a coincidence of names.
Please check George Nissen Memorial, 44299729, to clarify
Thank you so much.

You are very welcome.
I have GARRETT ancestors and I know that my ancestor Stephen GARRETT and his wife MARTHA are (according to family records) buried in Timber Creek Cemetery, Marshalltown, Iowa. There is no Stephen or Martha Garrett shown on the Find A Grave website for that cemetery. HOWEVER the above noted memorial # shows M. Garrett and there is another similar stone shown on another of your memorials that says S. Garrett. There are no dates on either. Would you be willing to put a note in the bio section of those two memorials that would say something like "this could be Stephen Garrett, who married Martha Alexander"? If so the dates for Stephen would be 1846-1935 and the dates for Martha would be 1852-1935. I understand if you are not comfortable doing this, but just thought I would ask.
Thanks, Mary Eldridge

In the Find A Grave bio for Wm S. Garrett, one of my ancestors, you mention his father as Henry Garrett and his mother as Mary Johnson. My research shows that his father was Henry Garrett but his mother was Judith Peers, their marriage 14 Feb 1803 shown in Virginia Select Marriages. (Henry's father, William Garrett was married to Mary Ann Johnson.) Except for the marriage source, I cannot completely claim that Judith Peers was the mother of all of Henry's children, but cannot find another marriage for him. If you have any source for Mary Johnson being his wife, I would be glad to know about it. Thank you, Mary Eldridge

I've transferred the photographs to your newly minted Planalps: Henry, John and Margaret. I transferred the memorials of Clara, Fred and Infant Planalp to you as well.
