STRANGERS IN THE BOX
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, and serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories,
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time,
To tell, who, what, where, and when,
These faces of my heritage,
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate,
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories,
Someday to be passed away?
Take time to save your stories,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours,
Could be strangers in the box.

I know nothing about them and don't even remember why I am maintaining the site.

Ok.Yes, I do want to sponsor it. Also, her first husband's grave Joshua Rhett Griffith. He was my great grandfather. his headstone should be right next to hers. Thank you.

I love that poem. It is so meaningful to me at this stage in my life. Especially when I find this site and see my great grandmother's grave picture and realize no one knows how amazing she was from this one photo. I love being able to post photos and talk about her on her. Thank you for posting the poem. I hope it's OK for me to share.

I'm responding to your message to me. I am not sure if this is the correct way to do so. I am new so I don't know what it means to sponsor a page? She was my great grandmother and I am sure I do want to sponsor. I did pay $5. Please educate me on what it means and why are you sponsoring her page if not related? Thank you, Michelle

Hey girl, it was 3 degrees this morning here in Missouri. Burr chilly! All is great here except we need some Spring ... and quick. So tired of Winter!
I need to ask you something. Were you the one who sent me a copy of the Evergreen PDF or excel spreadsheet of the burials/transcriptions for this cemetery? I have someone asking me for more information on the following (see below email). I believe this death date was a burial date that I got the date from the transcription maybe received from you. I guess I deleted it since I didn't think I'd ever need it again. Would you still have it? If you were the one who shared with me...Thanks Melinda (was wondering if you could send a copy of the transcription to the person below)
Find A Grave Memorial# 55071287 Dear Mindy, I hope you do not mind my using this vehicle to contact you. I have been searching for the burial of Minnie G Lunger who married Roy W Geiger. Minnie's grandfather was Abraham S Leatherman who I think is the owner of the plot she was buried in. You have the date of Feb. 24, 1997 for her death, but it does not appear on the headstone, so I assume you have some other information to go with it. The Minnie G Geiger I am researching was born Minnie G Lunger, daughter of John A Lunger and Maude Leatherman. She married Roy W. Geiger who died in 1963 and is buried in Pennsylvania where they lived. Anything you can give me to shed light on her identity would be wonderful. This memorial page seems to be for the same person as Amos Stoddard (#109505546). Maybe you can ask the manager of that page for a merger?
