STRANGERS IN THE BOX
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, and serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories,
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time,
To tell, who, what, where, and when,
These faces of my heritage,
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate,
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories,
Someday to be passed away?
Take time to save your stories,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours,
Could be strangers in the box.

|Joan Pacitti||Poem you sent me|
Hi: I thank you so much for what you sent. I guess even though I'm doing genealogy and finding relatives who were gone before I was born, I'll probably not find out more about them because those who knew them are not living anymore. People like my parents, paternal aunt and uncle, paternal grandparents, older brother.
I have been blessed though to have been told stories from my Mom when I was young and wish I had paid more attention. She told me more about my father's family. He was the last remaining O'Toole out of his siblings.
I've learned so much more now.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi: I wanted to thank you for sending the additional information on Mr. Corbett. I added that, plus in reading the obituary, I was able to add where he passed away.
I read your message about strangers in the box and it really hit home.
I am the youngest in my family and thanks to my Uncle, have learned of photos that he took many, many years ago. There were photos of my parents when they were young. I had no idea who they were until he explained them to me. After he passed away, his son and I made copies of the pictures my Uncle had told me about and I was able to mark them on the back and gave them to several members of my family.
Now I have found out that there are photos of my family that my brother has and I'm trying to find out if he has photos of several relatives I never knew. That may be an uphill battle, but I'll be contacting him soon.

Thanks for adding.

Thank you for the correction. I did a photo request for LT Foster and I shot the surrounding graves in the plot. Would you like a transfer since these people are family?

Yes, he is the first born child of Wilfred and Parmelia. Was born premature and died the same day. Unfortunately, there is no listing where he is buried.
Hope you know I found where Jeremiah is buried. He is in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. The grave is unmarked. Martha

I have his middle name as Oliver and that his father is Nathaniel and his mother as Mary Jane Creed. He's my 4th great grandfather through his daughter Charlotte "Lottie" Davis that married James Gaston

Find a Grave contributor Eatatjoes sent me the information as written on Mary Stulen's death certificate lists Mary as the wife of Frank Lem Stulen. Frank later married Bertha L. Whitling.
her sister. I have no proof if his is right or wrong.
