I was born May 1, 1959, in Mt Clemons, Michigan. |
Myrtle Oliver Oberlin
On February 14 1998 I married Michael Smarr, my childhood sweetheart. He has been my soulmate and has been with me through the Great and the Hard times, ever by my side.
In Oct 2006 I was diagnosed with terminal Breast Cancer and told I had two years to live.
In 2007 my son got married, and they have given us two of the most precious granddaughters.
In 2010 my sister Carol Oberlin Fortin and I found we both enjoyed geneology, so we started putting our family up on Find A Grave.
Now my Granddaughters will have a permenant record of their family.
The Lord has truely Bessed Me. It is now June 2012, It has been a struggle but worth every minute.
As we travel we find and enter cemeteries, so if I have your family member, no matter how far up the tree, please ask for the memorial, and if its not our family I would be honored to transfer it to you.
May God Bless you, Janice
Janice Oberlin Smarr

|Frederick Porter||RE: Porter Family|
I will Janice,
In 1974 I "interviewed" Charlotte Porter Babcock, who was my Grandfather's older sister. She recalled visiting her folks relatives in the Mohawk Valley with her mom when she was a girl (about 1900). Her dad would have been almost 30 when Eleanor Doten Porter died and he surely must have known her. She told me where all her G-Grandparents were buried, and she has pretty much turned out to be correct for all of them. She stated that the Porters were buried in Camden, and John has a stone there, which you have photographed. I am almost certain that Eleanor must be there, even though I have not located a stone, burial record or obit yet. I will let you know when something else turns up,
|Frederick Porter||Porter Family|
Thanks so much for transferring the Porters to me, I really appreciate your hard work on this family.
|Robert Stanley Orrell||Fred Gilmour|
That's the confusion! Be glad to transfer if you like.
|Frederick Porter||RE: Eleanor Porter|
I do live in New York. I am a descendant of Eleanor's son Thomas Doten Porter, who became a Quaker and settled in Elba, NY, marrying Mary Mumford, whose ancestors were from Rhode Island, which may be the source of the Quakerism. Who is your husband's friend descended from? Joseph Stockbridge Porter? I am fairly certain that Eleanor is in Forest Park with John Stockbridge Porter. Camden is a few hours away from me and I only visited the cemetery once and, because of time constraints, I did not locate "my" Porters. It was the third cemetery I visited that day- I hope to get back next summer. I can search for obits and let you know what I find.
I would be interested in "adopting" any memorials for these folks that you would transfer.
Thanks again, and say "Hello" to my cousin when you see him. I have been thinking about the Doten/Dotys a lot lately because of T-Giving.
|FidgetyMa||Russell Guy Harrison|
Thanks for what you're doing. My father is Russell Guy Harrison, who was buried in Brevard Memorial Park in 1984. I was very pleased to see a photo of his memorial. If it hasn't already been claimed, I would love to have his memorial transferred to me.
Thank you again. It was a wonderful surprise to find Dad's memorial.
|Hillbilly-Bob||Charles P Cuffman|
Are you related to the Cuffmans? If not, I would like to take this one off you hands as he is my Great Uncle. Memorial number 14618093

I see that you are related somehow and so I am transferring William Oberlin's memorial into your care. I am happy to give any memorial I create to family that is why I do this. Have a great day!

Hi! I sent the date through the edit form. Go to your profile page (this one, probably) and look at the top for EDITS and click on that and it will give you pending edits. I sent an e-mail with more info. Thought odd I didn't notice the date after I sent it and went back to do an edit and found I had already done one! Let me know if I can help in any other way :-)
|Sandi Litzenberg||RE: Maybe this is him|
Hi Janice.. That appears to be about the right age for him.. but I honestly don't know much more about this family.. I'm just trying to help a relative of the Van Buskirk family to locate and link these folks up.. I'll have to look into a bit more.. Another contributor might have located his death certificate and I'm just waiting on a response from her and should know more after that.
Thank you so much for your help, it's truly appreciated..
