Note to self for future reference: DOD on death certificate trumps Stone and Stone trumps any list. DOB on DC is not always right; it depends on the informant. Stone usually trumps DC with DOB. (From comment by John Evans)
Inside Our Dreams
By Jeanne Willis
Where do people go to when they die?
Somewhere down below or in the sky?
'I can't be sure,' said Granddad, 'but it seems
They simply set up home inside our dreams.'
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
by Thelma Greene Reagan
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Found a story about Paul Bateman to add. After searching & finding a Mr Bateman buried in Florida, & seeing your name & note, I knew I was at the right place.

Thank you so much for sharing your information. My husband & I were able to meet with Mr. & Mrs. Proveaux at their home in Hamlet. We were excited to learn of direct links between my husbands great-great grandfather & Mr. Proveaux' father.
Thank you for the information. It has been added. Thank you for your commitment to Find A Grave.

Thank you very much. Tom seems to be a very nice guy, and for the record it was me that was kind of snotty first. My bad. We should all work together to do well for some of these wonderful folks from the past. I'm not sure exactly how to proceed with Find a Grave. They say they only have one person to respond to nearly 70,000 emails a day. Not good odds. I was thinking of a paper letter to their Salt Lake office. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks once again.

Hey, Jo! I received your edit/sac emails concerning the above. I hope you don't mind but I think I'm going to just transfer this memorial to your tender mercies. I'm sure you'll do a much better job with it than I ever could. Have a great New Year!!! Tom
