I have been doing genealogy/family history since 1979. I do paid 'genny' work and some volunteer work. I simply love it and would be willing to help anyone that I am able to.|

I looked at this memorial and the only picture that is there is the default picture of the cemetery name. I have no control over that one being there.

Old Bethel Baptist Cemetery
Sorry, since I did not attach photo, I can't move it, unless you know a way. I did notice back in Oct 2014 you requested David to please remove the HS photo of the son #98005560 from the father #42800727, and that he hasn't responded. I just sent him another request.

Hello, Thank Ypu so much for all your hard work. I have the 3 books for People and Things and had just received the last one 1914-1920
There were maybe 3 George Chandlers during the years of all 3 books. Confusing at best.
My Gggrandfather Is Rev. George W Chandler ( a postman)
Who died Sept18 1917 while getting ready to deliver the mail.
He was burried in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery
He was also a Mason.
The article says he had preached in the Baptist Church for several years.
My next idea is to write to the church and ask if they
Have records from the 1880s possibly my Ggrand mother Louissa's death and burial is recorded there.
Thank You for all your efforts. God Bless

I saw your message on Mary Pair's grave at Crooked Creek in Alabama. I am 100% sure Lorene Pair Torbert is their daughter. here is my delimia.
Her husband was Emmett Smith Torbert . His parents are listed on their marriage as Charles Ross Torbert and Minnie. I find a second, earlier marriage for Emmett TOLBERT who has his parents as Charles ross TOLBERT and Minnie. This bride was Velma Vest. I found the graves of a Charles Ross and Minnie in Texas and they spell their names TOLBERT.
Do you know
1. Is this the same person? (Torbert and Tolbert)
2. Did he marry Velma Vest and then your Lorene Pair?
3. Was Loraine's first name Nancy?
The signatures look similar on the marriages, but one clearly says Tolbert and one Torbert. AND you can see that the grave says TORBERT! HELP, please.
My duplicate has been deleted and you already have management of the memorial at Hanceville. Thanks, Caretaker

I saw a message while I am trying to find out info on her parents where you were trying to find info on her grave picture. I really don't know any family from her parents side except ones who have died. She is my grandmother. I'm her youngest granddaughter and I have he youngest grandchild too. I was extremely close to her even though she died when I was almost 4. She had many strokes and I was her translator basically to the nurses and doctors and my mom & I went to the nursing home daily and would spend the whole day with her. She was born in February 1906 & died on January 27, 1977 on my parents wedding anniversary. Her mother had TB when she got pregnant with her and died when my grandmother was 4 years old. We all carry TB dormant because of my great grandmother getting pregnant already having it. Her mother's name was Maggie Cahilley/Cohilley/Caheely and she married Rufus Kirk who was my great grandfather. No one knows how to truly spell her maiden name. I was told that Pluma's mother's parents came on a boat from Ireland and gave birth to her mother in Oxford, AL & that she died in Jasper, AL from TB. My great grandfather Rufus remarried 2 more times because his wives kept dying on him. I think the second one had scarlet fever or something. I don't know about the 3rd one. I do know some of the half siblings took in his youngest children after Rufus died. I heard he was Scottish and Irish decent and had a bad temper. That's all I know. I would really like to find some living relatives and learn more about their families and if my great grandmother had siblings and really anything about her and my great grandfather's family. I believe Rufus Kirk died in Talladega County but not sure. I don't know how to find family that know anything. Do you have any tips?
My grandmother was married to my grandfather Efrom Alabama Martin who was born 1897 and died in 1962 I believe. He died before I was born from kidney urinic poisoning.

Hope all is going well. The photo request excursion was my first and only trip to George, so I know nothing of its history or its name change. The oldest readable graves in the Cemetery are of the George family, so I suppose that's the reason for the current name.
I'm speculating, but since the cemetery is in a rather remote area, it could be that it fell into disuse (there is a period in the late 1800s with few burials) and somebody later cleaned it up and renamed it after the most prominent and earliest family. That exact thing happened regarding the cemetery in which my great grandfather is buried. Sorry I couldn't be of more help...
Thanks for the transfer of my distant cousin Millard Wilson HENDERSON to me. I have added what I could and connected with parents.
I always appreciate your kindness,

That's all I needed of you. Thanks a bunch. There are about 200 missing photos, I'm going to look for them. They might have been skipped in another section. Just got back in town. I'll track them down at the cemetery. Thanks again.
