New York, Town Clerks' Registers of Men Who Served in the Civil War, ca 1861-1865 @ ancestry.com: Name: Nathan F Peck, married; Birth Date: 13 Jul 1833; Birth Place: Cameron, Steuben Co, New York; occupation: Cooper; Father: John S Peck ; Mother: Sally M Franklin; Enlistment Location: Newfane, Niagara, New York.
The date also matches the age @ death on headstone, 39 yrs-9mos-17dys. (add 13 days to make 10 months - May 13, 1873 / then 2 months to make 40th birthday - July 13, 1873 / -40yrs=July 13, 1873)

I wonder if this is not a 4th-great-uncle of mine. What census's did you find him on? According to census data, my Andrew O'Brien was born about 1858 in or near Manhattan, New York to Mark O'Brien (who served in the NY 131st) and Catherine (Hackett) O'Brien. Think it might be the same person?
