Bio and Links
Bio Photo The Yucaipa Valley Genealogical Society was created in 1982. The first Board of Directors was: President; Bonnie Jacobsen, Vice President; John Reynolds, Recording Secretary; Rosalind Bennett, Treasurer; Eloise Cunningham. At the close of 1982 there was a total of 59 members of which 53 were Charter Members.
In 2007, under the presidency of Jamie Daniel, the canvassing of Desert Lawn Memorial Park was started.
In 2008, under the presidency of Gena Ortega, the indexing of birth, marriage and death records reported in the Yucaipa-Calimesa News Mirror was added as an additional project.
In 2009, under the presidency of Earl Giddings, an enormous data-base was created to combine all of the previous efforts and includes thousands of photographs of tombstones to be entered on, not only the Society records but also on Find A Grave.
In 2010, under the presidency of Floyd Ferguson, we are adding information on three other local cemeteries; Stewart Sunnyslope, San Gorgonio and Mountain View.
Since many tombstones provide only the year of birth and death, we have undertaken the project to locate additional information from the Social Security Death Index, California Death Index, California Birth Index, California Marriage Index and our YVGS data-base.
We are aware that some of the CADI information of surnames and maiden names are not always spelled correctly but hope they will be beneficial.
When doing your research, you find we have made an incorrect entry, please notify us.
We have no estimate of when these projects will be completed .
We hope we have helped you with your search and welcome you to visit our website.

Memorial Image
Hi,
My name is Douglas C. Johnson (Find A Grave #47683562) and I was wondering if I could have your permission to use your photograph of the grave of Douglas Edwin Jirsa at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Calimesa, Riverside County, California on the FamilySearch Family Tree website. I would of course list it with full credit given to you for the use of the image.
Thank You,
Doug

Otto Solomon Abbott: # 43389169
His father, John Franklin Abbott was the brother of my great-grandfather, Silas Alexander Abbott.

There are no longer, direct male Abbott descendants in my family.

I am wondering/asking if this line through Otto, has any male descendants who have done a DNA test to find our Abbott origin.

I am stuck at Benjamin Franklin Abbott b. 1812, NC
who m. Caroline Pickett Willis, b. 1817, TN.

This is the grandfather of John Franklin Abbott.

Ben is my 35+ year, brickwall. The hints I have, are left to me by family researchers. No one else is coming up with anything, and no one else is interested in pursuing it past Alabama, where Ben married Caroline. I am told, the father of Ben was Alexander Abbott of NY. No dates/no info.
That Alexander Abbott family was Acadian. That my great-grandfather got his middle name from his grandfather. I see that would be his great-great-grandfather, if he is Alexander.

RE: Keith Dudley Cannon
Wow thank you so much for the obit. 2 things, first is there a way to get an actual copy of like from the paper etc.
Secondly

To clarify on names. Brode is Keith Dudley Cannon's second wife's previously married last name, she is (June Floellen Varner)then married Mr. Coryell, then Married, Mr George P. Brode, then my Uncle Keith Dudley Cannon. Keith was first married to Rose Etta Fiester and they had 4 kids, Jacqueline Lou Cannon, Jerry Lee Cannon, Bonne Jean Cannon and Leland Leroy Cannon. I know this because they are my cousins I played with. Their dad is my dads brother. My dad is Dale Cannon. It said he was survived by June. June and he never had children. She had children from her first marriage to George P. Brode, two of them, Gerald Brode, Nancy Brode Wheeler, so those are his step children, which to me makes no difference

I have copies of June's marriage to Mr. Brodie if you need proof.
