Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a photo volunteer for Western N.Carolina primarily Asheville and surrounding towns.

I am just starting out and will be adding memorials to my list hopefully about twice a week.

If you find a person on my list and they are related to you and you want the memorial transferred to you, click Edit tab, then click Suggest a Correction, and request transfer. That way I know I'll be transferring the correct person to you.

I will NOT transfer my immediate relatives. That is back 4 generations according to Find A Grave. I would be more than happy to share it, and always love to meet new relatives.

-Dear Ancestor-

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished, marbled stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I'd exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you.

Hi, did you take the photo of the roadside marker on this page? If you did, do you mind if we use it at Wikitree? It's already there (I didn't put it there), but I am prepared to remove it without having permission from the photographer.

This transfer falls outside the site's guidelines. If you are not familiar with these, please read the Frequently Asked Questions (sometimes refered to as Help With Find A Grave) for more information.
I am always happy to correct, edit, add to or link any memorial I manage, and I am looking forward to hearing from you to make this a better memorial. Please use the Edit tab on the memorial to submit what you would like included.

Carswell Name
I noticed that your maiden name was Carswell. I found a picture of a James Carswell in my mother's photos. She wrote on the picture that he was married to a distant cousin of mine, Lillie Mae Carswell. I think her maiden name may have been Moore or Ware. James W. Carswell served on the USS Haroce A Bass ship during the Korean War. I think they may have been from either north Mississippi, north Alabama, or Arkansas. My mother passed away in 2010. My father who was a Moore died when I was four, so I have recollection of any of this part of the family. I can't find his name on any list for the ship. You're the first person I have run across with this last name. I tried to send you a message by email, but for some reason, Find A Grave wouldn't let me. Thanks for reading the message and any help will be appreciated.

Thomas H Carswell
Hello Julia

My grandfather John Osborne Carswell is a brother to your great-grandfather Abel Hamilton Carswell.
I note that you have noted on Thomas H Carswell's find a grave page that you think that you have found him, but not quite certain. I have been searching for several years and cannot find anything on him other than a letter in the Hoffman family history book that indicates he was killed by Daniel Smith son of Abram Smith, this letter was dated November 25, 1866. Please advise me if you have any additional information.
My e-mail address is
My phone number is 704-276-1160.

Re: Flynt Family Cemetery: Rural Hall, NC
Might you know any family members of the above referenced cemetery OR do you know who mau=intains the cemetery?

Thank you.
