My brother "Skip" and I enjoy genealogy. He's my expert regarding Belmont county, OH. We both take photos of tombstones, especially of family members. Some of the surnames are Bain, Bane, Blaine, Budd, Curtis, Giffen, Giffin, Griffith, Haines, Hepburn, Hinkle, Keyser, Long, Milligan, Pond, Spears, Shahan, and Terrill.|
UPDATE: Skip started a GIFFEN DNA Group.
In addition to Belmont county, OH, we explore Ohio and Brooke counties in WV. I travel between Belmont Co and Columbus, OH. So, I make a few stops along the way, such as Cambridge or Zanesville.
I look for family tombstones across the country and try to link them back to Belmont Co., OH or Ohio Co., WV.
I have several GIFFEN / GIFFIN family trees at ancestry.com. There's my Giffen family which started with Robert and Mary (Bane) Giffen. Plus a family tree for the Andrew Giffin family. I recently started a Simon Giffin tree.
My ancestry.com tree name is "Terry Magyar"
More recently, I've added family trees for Giffens/Giffins in the following Ohio counties; Athens, Butler, Coshocton, Licking, Miami & Hamilton, and Ross County. Many of these Scotch-Irish lines can be followed back to the late 1700s, in Penn.
I presently live in Franklin Co., OH, but grew up in Belmont Co., OH.
Please contact me (use the EDIT function) if need an item corrected of if you have additional information regarding any of the these families.
I highly recommend the Cumberland Trail Genealogical Society's book "Your Guide to Belmont Co. Cemeteries". ($20 + shipping)

Oh, OK. Yeah, I thought you were being just a bit overly-ambitious!
But it's really a good thought, if it would be possible to get help from the many Find A Grave people ---- it might actually be possible to do (if you could somehow organize it or get people excited about it), at least within the USA.
It would take years, but a journey of a thousand miles - as Confucious supposedly said - begins with a single step.

Re: find a grave for veterans --- wow, what a massive, praiseworthy project ... after the thousands in Arlington, there are hundreds of national cemeteries with hundreds of thousands of graves, and thousands of little-known local burial grounds all over the country. If I were retired I'd volunteer to help, but right now I haven't the time. But I'll rephotograph all the graves I know of veterans, and I'll make sure to use flags when I do.

Re: placing an American flag in the photos - will do!

You are welcome. I know from personal experience that duplicates can happen very easily!
|Anne||Ruth Giffin Tucker|
Ruth Tucker is not recorded in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clermont Co., OHIO.
Her parents are buried in Evergreen Cemetery , Newport, Campbell Co., KY.
Since Ruth died in Newport, Campbell Co., KY, could she possibly be buried in in Evergreen Cemetery in KY?

You are welcome. Glad I could help. My brother lives two blocks from the cemetery. I usually go through when I visit him.
New Years Blessings,

You have the wrong birth and death dates on your submission to Find-A-Grave, according to the obituary that is posted. I believe you have his wife's birth and death rather than his.

Oscar was, according to our records, disinterred and moved to Woodlawn, from Greenwood.
You may want to make those changes to your records.
