Bio and Links
Bio Photo We are retired and travel this wonderful county taking in all she has to offer. I am always looking for my roots and love to help others find theirs. I always try to find photos request in the areas we travel and also take photos of the headstones that are not on find a grave. Hope I can do some good for someone and make their day. This is a great web site. If you find someone you want transferred, just request it. If they are not kin, I will be glad to do it.

Goldie I. Gage
A spelling correction.

Goldie's middle name was Imogene. If you enlarge the picture you posted you can see that her middle initial is an I not L as you have it listed.

Her memorial number is 91195420
The cemetery is Sidener in LaGrange County, Indiana

Thanks for all your listings.

Peter and Sarah Hammond.
Hi Debra, I'd like to know if they were married in Gothenburg, that would tell me a lot. An old family story relates that Sarah was homesteading in Gothenburg and that Peter was her neighbor. After Peter's first wife died they ended up marrying. I'm amazed that Sarah would be a single woman and homestaeding in Nebraska by herself. What a woman!
A lot of the Hendricksons and Kemps were like that.
Have you ever heard the story about what happened to Peter after Sarah died? Evidently Peter hired a young woman to come in and cook and clean for him.
She had a little girl and I think they are the woman and child on the 1910 Census living with Peter. Peter died in 1913 and the woman claimed that she was his common law wife and tried to take his everything he owned. Peter's children by his first wife stepped in and after a long drawn out court case prevented her from it. I'd be interested in any information you can find about Peter and Sarah. I'm still amazed that she would try her hand at homesteading in Nebraska in that day. Peter was her only husband so I know she was on her own up until the time they married.
Thanks for getting back to me. Best wishes, Dan Kemp

Peter and Sarah Hammond.
Thanks for answering my message. I know a little more about Sarah Hendrickson than I do Peter Hammond. Sarah was born in Dubois County, Indiana in 1844, the daughter of Vincent and Millie Morris Hendrickson. I found a note that Peter lived in Pike County, Indiana which is in the same part of Indiana that Dubois County is. I wonder how Peter and Sarah might have met and how long they knew each other before they married. They must have married in Nebraska but I can't find a marriage record for them. Thanks again for answering my message. Best wishes, Dan Kemp

Peter and Sarah Hammond.
Hi Debra, Sarah Hammond was a cousin of mine and I wanted to tell you what a nice job you did with her and Peter Hammond's memorial. Would you happen to know how they met? I've always wondered if they lived in the same neighborhood in Indiana. Thanks again for all your work. Best wishes, Dan Kemp

Thank you for the recent unexpected transfer of Mrs. Miller. She is not related to me, nor did I ever personally know her. She was the mother of one of my cousin's husband. I will take good care of her, but I would be willing to send her back if you wish. Again, thank you.
