I live in the Carytown section of Richmond, Virginia, USA, one time capital of the Confederate States of America. I grave the area of New Jersey to Georgia, looking for family burial sites.|
And often while walking those cemeteries I'll see some neglected or damaged or sinking markers, so I tidy them up, take a picture and post it, feeling like I might be their last best chance to be remembered for some future researcher. We all have the same goal, we're working for posterity, and I think this data base has become a number-one stop for any serious family history researcher.
I'm a U.S. Navy veteran, Vietnam era, duty aboard the USS Canopus AS-34. I raised a family, but lost my wife. I made a career in newspaper production, am now retired, and enjoy volunteer gravestone photography.
The best way I've found to get a readable gravestone photo is to redirect sunlight to create shadows in the carved surface.
Anyone who wants to use my photos may do so, without any restriction, so help yourself. They have been posted here for you to use. And if you want a transfer, simply ask for it.

I just posted them to your memorials. I'm sorry I could not get Harris photographed properly, I will try to do that next time I am down there. Glad I could lend a hand! :-)

Hi, Rich! When I was photographing the Stockard graves earlier today, I found some more Robinson graves. One was for a Vera Robinson, infant daughter of Mr. And Mrs. F.M. Robinson (died 1889), Beverly Ann Robinson, infant daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Harris Robinson, Virginia Dearing Robinson (1908-1993) and one that said "In Memory of Frank Mason Robinson 1939-2001". That last one may be a cenotaph since sometimes "in memory of" indicates the person is buried elsewhere.
If you want me to create memorials for them and post the pictures, I can then transfer them to you. Or I can email the pics directly to you. Just let me know what you'd like me to do.
I did see a stone for Harris Robinson but it was obsured by dirt and grass that I did not have the tools to remove. Sorry.

Thanks so much for posting his grave info and portrait! Do you happen to have a better copy of the portrait that you could send me via email? I've tried tweaking the download of the one posted, but have had no luck. OR, the source from where it came so I could go there?
GW is my son in law's 4th great grandfather.
Thanks so much!

Thanks for letting me know. I think I can find it again. I claimed them and will get out there next week. Is that okay?

It is commendable of you to take your time to travel to cemeteries and take photos of headstones. And it is also so helpful for those on Find A Grave and Ancestry to have these photos-they make the story of our deceased loved ones and the stories we tell of them more complete. Many thanks!

I LIKE ... very much! Thank YOU. I've deleted mine and asked Scott to take the reference to the NC Todd (dwarf) off the website.
Best regards, Dennis

I went to Forest Lawn today to visit this grave and see if her husband was buried with her but the cemetery could not find a record of it. Do you have any sort of location to help me out.
