Hi, Patricia. I was looking at pages for some of my Lanford relatives and I noticed that the tombstone photo you have placed on James Lanford's page #73749083 seems to be the stone for John Lanford, his brother. It's a little hard to read, but it does say John. I wondered if you may have one for James somewhere in your many photos. Gosh, there are just too many Lanfords to keep up with. :) A sincere thank you for all the many many photos you have posted and all the hard work you put into Find A Grave... it's so very appreciated!

RE: Anne Rogers
Yes, you are correct, your memorial has more historical important information. I sent a message to the other contributor as well, so it may be they will contact you or remove the duplicate.

Your Father David Parker
I'm sorry to hear about your father.

If I may ask, have you tried contacting Mobile Public Library Local History & Genealogy 704 Government St , Mobile, AL 36602

I noted that the mortuary is now closed. I didn't know what "removal" meant so I googled it and I got his information:

"Removal" does not mean only the body being moved to another county, it
can also mean it is being shipped to another state. It means the
body/remains are being removed from that original mortuary to another
location. The original mortuary is following someone's instructions and
arranging for the body/remains to be shipped (removed) to wherever
someone has instructed it to be sent - this is usually at the request of
a family member.

If the deceased person was a veteran or military person or someone
entitled to be interred in a military cemetery, it could mean sending
the body/remains to a specified military cemetery. But it can mean
sending the body/remains to another city, county, state, etc.

The death certificate should show the name and address of the original
mortuary and where and when the remains were sent. The original
mortuary should have on file complete details as to where they were

If the body was cremated, the certificate will show that and the place
where the remains went. Sometimes it will show a family member's name.

If the death was some time ago, that mortuary may no longer exist under
the name on the death certificate. It may have been taken over by
another firm, but usually the location is the same."

It seems that there are others searching for records as well from this mortuary. I saw this thread on ancestry (found it via google dot com). Here is the link to it:

I also came across this as well:

I thought I'd share this information with you and hope you find out where he is.

Peace be with you.

RE: Eugene Edgar Sanders
Miss Pat,
You are quite welcome. God bless your heart, I am grateful you are a patient soul. If you tell me your daddy's name I will keep an eye out. Any info you can provide would help. This site is great due to all who help connect the dots. Some people, my own mama included, do not like all the dots connected, but you know the old saying "O, while you live, tell truth and shame the devil!"
Thank you for all your hard work, time and dedication to making this site a great resource for all. Miss Robin
