William Oscar Bowden
Hi John,
this is not the son of Morris Malachi and Rachel Summerfield Simmons. Their son, William was drowned.
I found this newspaper article; Death Notices from The Meriwether County Vindicator

BOWDEN, Mr. Will, oldest son of Mr. M. M. "Ki" Bowden, formerly
of Meriwether, was drowned off Tybee, near Savannah, last
Sunday; with his father he removed to Flat Rock, Muscogee
county, where he engaged in farming for many years; at the time
of this writing his body has not been recovered; Vol. 28, No.
38, August 24, 1900

Thank you,
Barb Scrivner

Also, if you do not want to deal with the edits, I would be happy to receive ownership of the memorials. My Find A Grave Id is 47953067 if you wish to transfer them. Thanks.

RE: # 162543317 Rueben 'H' Moore
Hi John--

Thank you so much for your quick response and helping me with the death year, as well as telling me about getting him a headstone. I've done what you asked, and sent you an email, so that, when you have the time, you can send me the letter of authorization to that email address.

Once again, thank you so much for everything you have done...not just for me, but for so many others, I'm sure.

Dear John--What a treat to come back to 'Find A Grave', after not doing research for awhile, and see all the wonderful information you've added for so many of my relatives on my father's side. Rueben 'H' Moore was my paternal great grandfather, although I always thought his middle initial was 'J'. My grandfather was William Thomas Moore.

You have provided a wealth of 'personal' information in the newspaper article quotes as well as the Sexton's card files for Linwood Cemetery. At first I was disappointed to see that there were no photos, but then I saw all you had posted. I'm like a kid in a candy store, reading and re-reading all the info you've provided for so many relatives. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

If you have a minute, could you verify Rueben's death year for me? You have the date of his death as Nov. 6, 1899. Both the newspaper article and the Sexton's card file list the year as 1898, so I'm thinking it could just be a typo.

Once again, thank you for all the work you've done. We are so lucky to have people like you, especially when we no longer have anyone to ask. Happy New Year!
Diane

RE: CLARK graves at Linwood Cemetery
John,

I have submitted a mound of edits to you for these. They should tie in all of your research with what I already had known about the Clarkes. Your work matches perfectly and fills in a lot of holes. Again, thanks for your help.

If you have questions or concerns about any of the edits please let me know. I would be more than happy to discuss any of them with you.

Also, I would recommend deleting the other infant grave record. I think there is enough circumstantial evidence (or lack thereof) to conclude that the 1869 date in the one list should be 1870 and that Jack and Eliza only had one infant that died in 1870.

RE: CLARK graves at Linwood Cemetery
John,

No, I think you are 100% correct. I had noticed Eliza before in the 1870 census, but did not know of the marriage record. Without that, and with the significant age difference, I had written her off as a possible but unable to trace sister or something. You have put all of the missing pieces into place, and for that I am very grateful. This explains a lot. I knew of the Mary Ely marriage in Texas, but did not know Jack was married a second time in Georgia. It seemed like too short a time in some ways for all of that to have happened. But, apparently it did. None of our family or Bible records discuss it, but that is because no one survived - the second wife and all the children apparently died in Georgia. Makes you feel quite sorry for poor Jack.

I will spend time this weekend putting all of this in my genealogy records. Many thanks for your help. It is efforts and kindness like this that can be so very helpful at times in genealogy research.

Are you also a Clarke/Clark descendant?

- Kevin
