After taking a cemetery tour in 2008, I decided to photograph and transcribe the graves of the Civil War soldiers buried at Pittsford Cemetery. That little project snowballed into an obsession to find any information I could about these hometown heroes.|
Since that first tour, I have given many cemetery tours of my own, and I continue to be amazed at the interesting people who lived in my own town and who now permanently reside in the Pittsford Cemetery and the Pioneer Burying Ground.
The majority of the graves I list on Find A Grave are people who reside in my neighborhood cemeteries. I have seen the graves and, in many cases, personally tend to them on a regular basis.
Find A Grave has been very helpful in my personal genealogy searches, as well as to my Civil War soldiers project. I look forward to assisting others with their searches as a contributor.
My blog, Illuminated History (www.IlluminatedHistory.com), details my Civil War soldiers project.

Dear Vicki Masters Profitt
May I have permission to use your information and pictures for the Reuben Brownell & Alice Sherman family? I am working on my family tree on Ancestry.com.

|A H. Jordan||Anna Holst Kaiser|
I notice a mistake on the listing for Anna Holst Kaiser. My Great Great Aunt Anna only had 2 daughters: Huldah Kaiser Gravelle and Ruth Kaiser Hronowski. Esther, Leola & Alvin Kaiser were not her children. They have been relations through her husband's side. I'm related through her brother George. Whenever possible, please correct.
|Janet Dill||RE: Henrietta Puth Dill|
Hi, my father in law told,me a touching anecdote about her. Apparently Henrietta was dying of the cancer and wanted to be married, so Charles Dill did, shortly before she died. Now, that's a gentleman.
Vickie, thank you so much for this photo. These are relatives from my Great Grandmothers family. I don'y know much about her family so this has made me very happy.
|Ellen Herrmann||Emma Alverson Photo|
I owe you an apology. I couldn't figure out how you answered my photo request, but there wasn't a picture and finally tonight, I figured out that I had put the request in on the wrong Emma Alverson. The person I thought I requested was Emma Pegelow Alverson, but I put the request on Emma C. Alverson, which you very nicely took a lovely photo for and I didn't find until tonight.
I'm so sorry, you must have thought I was rude, and I should have asked earlier which would have been a much better choice. I'm very sorry and didn't intend to be rude, I was just confused.
Thanks for all you've done along the way.
Ellen M. Herrmann
