|Bio and Links|
Social Life is the aggregate of all the individual men's Lives who constitute society; History is the essence of innumerable Biographies. |
- An oft-quoted "admission" by Thomas Carlyle in his 1830 essay On History
Originally, the Christian names, maiden names, surnames and dates which appear as titles for these Find A Grave cyber-memorials, and by which these entries are indexed, were as they appear on the stones and, in some instances, on undertaker markers (because, ordinarily, inscriptions are primary evidence for the individuals memorialized in these cemeteries, at least when placed by contemporaries).
Over time, I've begun to enter the transcriptions, so that now, many memorials include maiden names and full names (and additional dates and places) where they can be added with a high degree of confidence. The "Bio" sections may include genealogical deductions which are based on a number of documents, including both primary evidence and secondary sources.
The on-line availability of Georgia death certificates from 1919-1930 allows us to add memorials for burials for which no stone or marker was found in a cemetery (more than a hundred such entries), and allows us to supplement the information for burials which do have extant stones or undertaker markers.
Inevitably, mistakes occur; I very much appreciate your leaving me a message, via the Edit tab, when you notice misreadings, misidentifications, or other errors in the memorials, including misdirections for the embedded links. I will do my best to make corrections promptly and, when practicable, to verify the information. To the extent possible, I ask that you use the Edit tab with EACH memorial; those requests are already linked, so there are no extra steps nor misunderstandings about which memorial is involved (it has happened). For transfer requests, I can only ask that you refer to the FindAGrave guidelines (Example: Direct relatives within four generations; this would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren).
May God Bless Each of You and Your Families †
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Philippians 4:4-9 KJV
NOTICE: My years of care for my father are at an end; we've buried his body, he has gone on to Glory. As related affairs are settled, I turn more of my attention to FindAGrave. Some folks have requested edits, additions, corrections, &c. The number of such requests was not quite "legion," but it was getting there (again, the Edit tab is quite helpful). Please understand that your aid is valued and will get consideration in due time. I thank many of you for your patience, and now for your understanding. For the very few with that snide attitude that requires pointedly commenting yet "AGAIN," I apologize for your extreme anguish and have reason to regret your inability to realize that life exists beyond FindAGrave, that there are "seasons of life" (your pastor can help you with that concept), and that we gravers and genealogists are sometimes reminded that the living (and the dying) most likely should come ahead of the dead.

Would you be able to help me contact descendants of Christie family members from the Evans Cemetery?

Hi, I still transfer if not related to me. With that being said, answer to your question is: 2nd great grandfather
|Ronnie||Margaret Groover 40520454|
Hi, Findagrave did indeed do a correction for me, something kind of new to the website. I requested it last week, but I also like to mention it to the page owner as well. The spouse link was corrected by them for me. Luther Groover married Margaret and John David Groover married the four I mentioned but previously Margaret wasn't connected to Luther. It is correct now.

Hi You got John's page from Bev but the link for the spouse is incorrect. He married four wives: Elvira, Rebecca, Ella and possibly Anna, but not Margaret Reiser. Can you please delete the link to Margaret? I am a Groover descendant and have records proving his marriages. She married Luther C Groover.

|Danny R. Mock||Lodowick E. Mock|
Please delete your photo of Lodgwick G. Mock's grave marker. This day my sister Jeannie and I placed a new grave marker in Green Hill with all the CORRECT information. She has already uploaded pic of new marker onto Find-A-Grave. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Danny R. Mock
|Amy Suzanne Martin||Johannes "John" Groover|
Greetings, your page for John Groover is so beautifully done. He was my husband's 6th great-grandfather, and we both really appreciate being able to find his final resting place as well as all the wonderful information about him here. Do you have any idea where his son Peter might be buried? Many thanks, Amy
|ann maner||RE: MANER HERRINGTON Screven County, Georgia|
Thank you for your reply. It has been over a year now and I never heard back from Elizabeth Herrington. Have you been in contact with her recently?
All the info you provided in your note is true. Since then I have been to Augusta and found proof of Candass Herrington as widow of George R. Maner, etc. etc. That is all settled.
I am still trying to find more info on George R.'s first wife Temperance Louisa Jordan and their 6 children. If you hear of anything I would be so very interested in that.
The reason I am writing now is that you mentioned you are related to the Mocks. Do you know if any of Charlotte's direct line was a Revolutionary soldier?
|Linda Fewox Brinson||William Bird--Col. Edwards's brother|
I am trying to find any information on my mother's grandfather, William Bird 1823-1880. He was born 09-05-1823, baptized in 1824 in the old German Lutheran Church in Savannah which is now the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, is listed in the Effingham County census in 1860, 1870, and 1880. In fact, in 1880 his family is one family listing above his brother Edward Bird's family in Whitesville (now Guyton), GA. His death was in October 1880. I cannot find where he and his wife Ellen Catherine Zettler are buried nor any information after the 1880 census. Ellen's parents and grandparents are buried in the Springfield City Cemetery, where my family has search for Ellen and William Bird's graves to no avail. If you could give me any leads, I would be grateful. Thank you. Linda Fewox Brinson

Thank you. Did you send those to my Facebook page? I am unaware of how to find the 'other' folder. Thanks in advance for your help.
