Bio and Links
Bio Photo Long-time instructor of writing and women's studies at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH. I am an addictive reader, am interested in geneaology, folk music and sacred harp, and am an Anglican, guitar player, singer, guardian of two rescue dogs and mother of a beautiful adult son.

I enjoy walking in cemeteries and have made it a personal project to photograph and record the headstones of military personnel in addition to requests in local cemeteries, in honor of their service and the service of my father, stepfather, and uncles in World War II and Korea, friends from Viet Nam, and students from the Gulf Wars and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. If any of these service persons or others I have added are family members and/or you wish to manage their memorials, just let me know. I am happy to transfer.

Anyone who wants to use my photos in their family tree, on Findagrave, or any other site may do so without my permission.

I am primarily a volunteer photographer and often am unrelated to the people whose memorials I make, so I am happy to transfer. I am doing this work to honor what would otherwise be lost lives, to make visible what has been forgotten.

I would very much appreciate tributes of love to the memorial of a baby whose heartbreaking obituary I found in a newspaper from 1926, and another from a death record:

Baby John Doe: 136921616

and to a young girl who had a hard life and a brief stay in this world: Rene Holley 145768090

Heartfelt thanks to all those who have already added notes--you mean more than I can say

Thank you very much for the work you are doing in Pemberville! Arvellaís parents are there, Clarence Martin and Ella Louisa Maria Hoessmann Martin Ernsthausen, as well as Arvella's sister, Beverly Martin Bockrader. August Ernsthausen may be buried with his first wife, Martha Busdiecker. Arvella was my dadís cousin (Fred W. Hessman, who is buried in Arizona).

Yes! A village! A small group of us in my hometown in Arizona work diligently on the massive task here, and I also include information from obituaries, when I can find it. It is my hope that otherslike you will find the information for my own family in Ohio, Texas and Alabama.... So THANK YOU!

Wow. That is strange to have 2 women with that name. Thank you for continuing to correct the information.

Did you randomly find the extra gravemarker for Arvella, or do you have some knowledge of her? She is a distant cousin of mine, and I'm having a tough time finding our family members who are living now.... (her mother's family, the Hoessmanns)

I know you have done a lot of work photographing graves in Wood County. You have become my family photographer!

I was surprised in reviewing family markers to learn Laura doesn't have a photo so I grabbed the Simonds info to see where she is buried.

I have conflicting info about her burial location. Any chance, in your spare time(!), you might stop at Oak Grove Cemetery to see if she is buried there and, if so & there is a marker, take a picture?

Raymond L. Putman
Hi Cynthia, Me again, I just discovered that an Obituary has been added to Margaret Anne (Leroy) Forte's Memorial #99124431. Raymond L. Putman was her first husband. So if you would like to create his memorial, I will add the photo. Take Care, Chuck Brandon.

Forte Photo
Hi Cynthia, I forgot to mention that I also have a photo of Raymond L. ?? 1919-1972. He is between Margaret Anne & Dan Forte. If you would like to create a Memorial (or I can but I will need his surname) I will post the photo. Thanks again, Chuck Brandon.
