Going forward, unless there is a compelling reason, I will only transfer listings of people someone knew closely, i.e. parent, child or close friend. I'm sorry, but someone who died 200 years ago could be related to thousands of people. I prefer you add one of my listings under your umbrella using the virtual cemetery feature at Find A Grave. If you have additional information, I will happily add it and list you as the contributor.

Also, please do not ask me add an obituary to a person's memorial. see Find A Grave policy below:

Can I add an obituary to my interment listing?
It is best to not copy obituary notices from newspapers to an individual's memorial record unless you have permission from the newspaper to do so. In general, obituaries in newspapers are submitted by the family. If the obituary is added to the memorial record, it should list the newspaper and date the obit was printed. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices from memorial records.
Obituaries for "famous" individuals are usually written by newspaper staff and can not be posted to Find A Grave.
Please do not include website addresses that may be listed in the obituary as they usually expire within a year after the obituary is printed.

A Horan
RE: Father McGlynn
Thanks, yes, I read that, too. But later I also found a photo of a headstone for him, not just a statue, on Billion Graves. So, there is an actual cenotaph besides a statue there. He shares the headstone with either a nephew or cousin of his. I've asked the contributor of the Woodlawn memorial to note that it is a cenotaph there.

Fr McGlynn is a relation through my great-grandmother, Isabella McGlynn Burrows. Apparently there are a number of my Burrows and McGlynn family members buried at Calvary. Given the size and condition of the four cemeteries under that name, it should be a challenge to locate all of my ancestors there!

Thank you again for checking into this.

RE: John Cobb 11266670
I know where people got the info that Thomas was the son of John. It's an old book called"Rockaway Records of Morris County NJ." by Percy Crayon. In it he lists the children of John Cobb that are proven by baptismal records--and then he adds..."and probably Thomas Cobb."
hardly sound evidence.

Thanks and good luck

I could probably figure out who Thomas Cobb is--I have tons of info, real info, to go through.John Cobb had two brothers--Thomas could belong to one of them. I'd have to search it out.

RE: John Cobb 11266670
Thanks for your honesty and cool head about this (some people get mad).
I thought it might be S.A.R. The date of application is 1929--they let anybody in S.A.R. and D.A.R. back then. D.A.R. has since gone through and cleaned up their records to a degree.
It's a shame--because Thomas is not his son. There is a Rachel listed as daughter of John and that is wrong also. I'm just trying to alert people that there is a lot of erroneous info out here. What you see is not always the way it was.Everyone needs to work at checking real records: Deeds, wills, Bible records, etc. so future ancestors may have confidence that what they see is accurate.

Thanks so much!

So-my main question is, what proof do you have that Thomas Cobb is the son of John Cobb? I'm just curious as I have never found a Thomas in my ten years of researching my Cobb line.

I was wondering if you could show me how John Cobb and Thomas Cobb are father and son. I show that he only has Clisby, Samuel, John, Sarah and Rhoda by baptismal records at Hanover Church. I'd love to add Thomas to my records. Also, you might want to know for your own, personal records that John Cobb died in 1779.Everyone has it posted as 1797.
You can check out his memorial and see that I posted a deed that proves this to be so.

Dear Rich,

I was wondering if you could transfer Mildred J. (Monahan) Ellis' page to me. She is my husband's grand aunt. Her parents' memorials are: # 141244606 and 141244505; one of her sister's is #128386358. My page is #48038230.

Thank you and God Bless,
