Bio and Links
Bio Photo Transfer requests:

As of May 26, 2013, I am reserving the right not to make transfers of memorials to contributors who shield their identity by being "Anonymous" in their screen names, especially if their profile pages disable messages and email contact.

My belief is that contributors and managers of memorials should be held to a high degree of responsibility to honor the deceased, and the use of "Anonymous" for a screen name, and disabling of email and message contacts concerns me greatly as to how memorials would be or are managed.

As others do, I enjoy walking the cemeteries in response to a single photo request and then finding many additional family members that someone requesting the initial photo was unaware of. My record so far was finding over 50 family individuals in three cemeteries as a result of a single photo request made for this area! They are now each with memorials, links, often obituary information, and headstone photos.

It is good to know that these deceased families and individuals are now remembered.

I have also documented with memorials and, if possible, headstone photos, several entire small, rural cemeteries to keep them preserved for future generations.

As needed, I use the genealogy resources of the Jefferson County Genealogy Society at the Fairfield Public Library (Fairfield, Iowa) for much of my local "documentation" and sourcing; I also take advantage of the courthouse vital records and probate materials to examine first hand some of the materials that help me put on genealogy information and determine relationship links for my memorials, and to suggest corrections or updates to memorials made by other contributors where possible. Of course, there are online genealogy websites that I often use as well to confirm or not confirm some family information and relationships.

------
Note: I (and others) also have contributed headstone photos to Iowa Gravestones Photo Project website for linking purposes from the IaGenWeb.org/Jefferson county genealogy website. My screenname on IGPP is "thompsonrb" (which provides an email link to me).
-------
I strive to have my memorials as accurate as possible but errors or mis-information in my sources happens. If you see errors or corrections, I'm glad to make them. "Edit"/SAC is best, but direct emails or public messages are ok. If not by SAC try to provide the memorial number because just providing names doesn't alway ensure I know who you are wanting updated, especially in cases where there are fathers and sons with the same name. My Ouiji board is broken and I can't read minds.

The new edit system now allows for suggested links to parents and spouses - for the most part I'll accept them "as is", but reserve the right to verify if possible.

**Caution: sending spouse links to memorials that already have spouse links to the same person will, unless the new edit system is revised, result in inadvertent duplicate spouse links. Although the new edit system allows for parent and spouse links to be suggested as part of one edit, please be sure that a spouse link does not already exist on that memorial. Entering the same memorial # for a spouse of a particular memorial can cause that spouse to show up on the memorial multiple times. It is probably best to only send parent links as one new edit, and spouse links as a separate edit, so if the duplicate spouse link situation is caught then that edit can be declined without being forced to also decline parent links that may well be otherwise acceptable.**

I much prefer working with contributors who use their real names rather than initials or quirky screen names. I'm a bit old fashioned: in real life I address people by their given name, unless they use a 'regular' nickname. Getting or sending contacts to others who use only initials (gender non-specific) or quirky screen names is not how I was raised to address people, especially since memorials on FindAGrave are for people with real given names.

Being forced to send a SAC to another contributor as "Dear RubberDuckyLover" devalues the respect that I feel that the deceased deserve.

Lloyd McCarty
I had time to check for Lloyd McCarty in California and found him at Find a Grave memorial #126491700. I have requested a photo of his grave if available. This record shows his death as 6 December 1966 and buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Arcata, California.

Richard, I was reading Ida A. McCarty's listing and see where you were looking for information about her husband, Lloyd McCarty. Apparently she was in the nursing home and he went to live with a son or daughter in California. Lloyd McCarty passed awan 15 Dec 1966 in Eureka, Humboldt, California.

Addis
Richard, I just posted a photo for Ersel Addis and her husband Laird. It took some looking! She was listed in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, but when I went to the gravesite there was no marker and the area was two inches lower than the surroundings. The cemetery office said that her body had been moved after her husband died. Her husband's services were through Gay & Ciha, so I called them and learned that he was buried in Oakland Cemetery. And she was buried with him. At rest.

RE: Bertha Tearl Osborn middle name edit
On her birth record it states Bertha P. Osborn which indicates her middle name starts with a P and not a T. Since Pearl would be the name if you substitute the T of a P it would be Pearl. I just think that it was a typo that has a T. I would go with the birth record which was recorded at her birth.

Bertha Osborn #60184067
Hello, While trying to research on the Oliver and Matilda Pringle family I found a birth for Bertha P. Osborn in the Iowa Births and Christenings. I saw that you have a memorial for her at Walnut Creek Friends Cemetery and wanted to let you know her parents names. They are Oliver Osborn who was born in 1857 in Iowa, and as yet I have not found his death date. Her mother was Matilda May Osborn who was born in Indiana and I have not found her death either. Oliver was the brother to my great grandmother, Emma Osborn Schooley. Their parents are Thomas Elwood Osborn and Hannah White Osborn who are both buried in Harper County, Kansas. His parents, Richard and Rachel Hodson Osborn are both buried at Walnut Creek. I do have the father of Matilda Pringle Osborn who is Thomas J. Pringle, who is buried in Iowa, but I don't have the memorial number at the moment. I have not located the wife of Thomas, except that she was Hannah Serepta Huff, and I did locate a record of Seepta and Thomas J. Pringle at the Pleasant Plain Meeting in Iowa when their son Samuel M. Pringle was born in 1867. The daughters of Oliver and Matilda are Edith Bell Nickerson who is buried in Seattle and also a Mable Myrtle who is buried in Florida. They also had a son, George Hl Osborn, who I have not located any information on. Possibly I found one in Idaho that may be him. I had met my mother's cousin, Edith Bell Nickerson, when I was a child and remember her. I posted a picture of Oliver on Ancestry, but I am not positive if the man is the correct Osborn brother. Also, there is a picture of Thomas Elwood and his other children. I do know the daughters although. Thought you would like the information. Thank you for your contribution to FindA Grave.
