*I follow site rules for obits and names of living survivors. I strive for accuracy, therefore don't knowingly add links to burial unknowns or plops.

** Always verify information found on this site. Errors abound as more and more people enter speculative memorials for graves that haven't been found.

RE: Thanks!
You're welcome. I was lucky enough to be out at Presbyterian at the right time of day to catch the sunlight hitting that marker just perfectly.

These two site are different and the parents are different also the birth and death dates arwe different. This was in the olsd Cemetery book and could be a different person. In fact there were 4 or 5 in the cemetery where your person with the exact same name.

Thank you for noticing the entry was duplicated. Not sure how that happened and I know the cemetery since it is one the family uses. Not sure where that name came from either. I deleted it.

RE: Lucy Ann
No offence to state named people intended! Yes, my great-great grandmother used Tennessee as her middle name but whether she was given that name at birth or it became her name later in the century would be another puzzle. Her name mostly appears as A. T. Beard or Holt (even on her wedding certificate). She even signed her name A. T. Holt. On the 1850 census, she is Adaline T. Beard.

I've changed Lucy Ann to Louise Anna. Your challenge helped me think it out a bit further. Thank you for that.

Lucy Ann "Louisanna" Vinson Beard
Thank you for your remarks on my memorial to my great-great-great grandmother. Lucy Ann's real or preferred name was a great puzzle. I chose Lucy Ann as that was how my mother and our family records had it but in revisiting my notes, I also see that the 1880 census listed her that way. I suspect that she was really named Louise Anna Vinson and her name was later "modernized" however as examination of a copy of her marriage record (not a transcription) appears to be LouiseAnnaVinson. It's important to note the use of uppercase letters, I think. Her name also appears in the (untranscribed) 1850 census as Louise A. Beard. At any rate, I feel sure that her nearest and dear never intended for her to be named after the state as many transcribers have done. I intended the "nickname" of Louisanna to be useful to searchers who do not have access to original letters and documents as I have.

My one photograph of her is labeled "Mother Beard", so no help there!

Also, I see I was in error as to her daughter, Vandelia Beard's death date. Thank you for pointing that out.

Grave of Hattie Burkeens
OBXr, thank you for trying to find the grave of Hattie Burkeens in the Clover Bottom Cemetery. I do appreciate your efforts and will ask the memorial manager to add a note that the grave could not be found so others will know.
