Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been interested in genealogy for many years & started researching about 20 years ago. I still had children at home so it was slow going. We moved back to the area I grew up in & where all my families were located at one time four years ago. I thought I'd do a lot of digging but have found there are lots of other things to keep me busy!
My families are Floyd; Wallis; Robertson; Patterson; Keller; McLachlan; White; Norris; Lowery; Holland; Cole; Crabtree; Dugan; Harris; Hoover; McCoy; Springer; Franklin; Sennitt/Senate.
I am married & have four grown children & 9 grandchildren.

John Newton Floyd
Hi, I am trying to find info on John"s family for his granddaughter Clemmie Floyd Morton. I gave her the picture of her great grandfather, John Nimrod Floyd....she was so happy to see it, she didn't know him...Her father is Charles Arthur Floyd...and if you would be so kind to help me help her I would appreciate it, Clemmie is in her 80"s now...Thank you so much for the info you put on here already.

I'm wondering about your memorial. There is an obvious conflict between the stone and the date of death on the memorial.
Does that conflict come from a typo on the memorial or does the stone have an error??

Thanks!

RE: Enoch Floyd
Hello, I combed the Berry cemetery last year and never found a stone with Enoch's name on it, only his brother Peter & his wife. I may have overlooked it though. I have since set a military monument at Zion cem. in honor of Enoch's service in the Confederacy. I set it in April. He like his brother Peter served in both sides in the Civil War, not uncommon for men in Missouri or other border states. Regards, Garrett Gabel

thank you so much for taking the photo of Lurline's grave she died on my youngest sons 6th birthday. I loved her very much and she was more like a Mother to me. Someday I will visit her gravesite, I still miss her today.

Enoch Floyd of Dent co. Mo.
Hello, I'm writing in regards of your submittal of Enoch Floyd of Dent Co. Mo. I have been personally visiting the cemeteries of Phelps and Dent counties of Mo. documenting pro-southern Mo. State Guard and Confederate gravesites as part of an ongoing project of mine. One of the very first things I do after locating a soldier for my database is pull up a death certificate, (if one exists)in Enoch Floyd's case, one does exist,(Mo. death cert.#10761) it states that he is interred at Zion cemetery of Dent co. Mo. I visited the Zion cemetery and his wife is buried there, but like Berry cemetery, there is no marker in his name! I then dowsed the area of Mahala Floyd's grave, sure enough there is only one grave on either side of her, that being a male. Enoch also died after Mahala, which might explain why Enoch never received a stone so logic,(and document) has it in many ways that Enoch is buried in Zion, not Berry cemetery. You are partially correct that Enoch was a pro-Union soldier in the Civil War, however like his brother Peter who is interred at Berry, they both were previously in pro-southern units prior to switching sides, that's not uncommon in Mo. during the Civ War, this border state was quite a mess during the war to say the least!! So, to clear up the situation, would you please delete Enoch Floyd from Berry cemetery?? I as commander of the B/G Edmund T. Wingo Sons of Confederate Veterans camp of Salem, Mo. plan to set a stone at Zion cemetery in honor of Enoch's service for the Confederacy later this year. any questions please feel free to contact me, Regards, Garrett Gabel vessie_secesh@yahoo.com
