Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest of documenting cemeteries began with a request to help on an Eagle Scout project in 2001.

Since I love creating and working with databases, digital photography and genealogy, what better combination!

I've documented many Howard Co. Indiana and Montclam Co. Michigan cemeteries with thousands of tombstone photos. My largest contributions are Arlington National Cemetery and Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.

I love Find A Grave and I especially enjoy adding photos to memorials so that family members can visit their family member's grave at anytime. However, I ask that you respect my efforts. Please, do NOT copy my photos to without giving me credit. Simply indicate " 2001-2014 John C Anderson on Find A Grave". I'd appreciate a note letting me know you have copied them. However, do NOT post them to other Find A Grave memorials. Just let me know and I will upload them. Use for commercial purposes is not allowed under any circumstances. However, it is okay with me for you to post my photos of your friends and families headstones on Facebook as long as you link it back to the Find A Grave memorial. You may use my photos on your own personal website if non-commercial, but photo credit is again appreciated.

This love of documenting cemeteries has led to the formation of Instone Data Solutions, a company used by government agencies and others to digitize their old cemetery paper records.

I'm more than happy to make corrections and add relationship links to other memorials.

ALL REQUESTS FOR corrections, additional information, or transfers: PLEASE do so with the Suggest A Correction (SAC) link on the memorial for that person. [Most memorials will have an 'Edit' tab on the upper right side of the memorial. Click on the 'Edit' tab, then click on the 'Suggest a correction' link on the Edit page.]

PLEASE NOTE: I'm very grateful for corrections and additional information, but I'm receiving 75-100 a day and cannot reply to everyone. Please check back to ensure accuracy of memorial page updates.

Please be assured I do most updates, corrections and links (via SAC, email or message) within a day. Guidelines do suggest a member send no more than 20 per week to a single contributor but have no problem with receiving as many as needed to get the objective accomplished - which is getting memorials, and the cemeteries, as accurate and complete as humanly possible.

RE: memorial #101004516
Thank so very much for not only your help but for your understanding. I realize that your memorial for John H was the original and therefore should have stood (and mine should have been deleted).

You are a true gentleman and have the spirit of a volunteer that I wish everyone had.

Story - I saw a duplicate of one of mine appear in a small locate (Starke co, IN) cemetery. I contacted the female (she's no lady) and told her I would transfer all that family to her. Before I could check and make sure I had them all I found she had already made HER own! I then asked her to transfer my originals back to me so I could delete them. NOPE! she wouldn't do it...and there they sit to this day.

Again thank you for doing, helping, volunteering, and photographing the past & present for us all.

The above memorial has a wrong name and I just put in the memorial & links on the right person.

Would you be so kind as to delete your memorial #101004516 and place the photo on the memorial #144736164?

I kept wondering why my Mary Gravengood's hubby hadn't been accounted for! LOL

I still have a missing hubby for Nellie 'tho.

Thanks for listening and for helping...your photos are great!

re: # 45892160 Crown Hill Cemetery
Dear John,

Just a heads up that I posted this photo to my tree on ancestry and added the notation you requested.

I have a question - though you posted this one ages ago - did you get the grave information from cemetery transcripts? I don't see her name on this broken stone but you have it as Jenny. The date and age matches up and E & A Ellis are her parents. Wish I could make out the top line on the stone. No doubt dear daughter or something close to that.
