I started doing genealogy back in the early 1980's, researching the Jewett (my mothers' maiden name) Family in the Wright County, Minnesota area. That was back before the computer, when it was door to door, phone calls, or US mail. I gathered 18 notebooks full of information and now am slowly getting that information listed on Ancestry.com. |
I started back on my family research in February 2011 after retiring in January of that year.
Unfortunatly, most of the people I talked to back in the 1980's can now only be found on Find A Grave.
To any of you doing family research, I suggest you get to the oldest family members first and get as much information as you can before it is lost to time. Some of their stories (not always true) are interesting and more importantly, informative to your research.
Since starting back up this year, I have made some awesome discoveries thanks to the web. Lots of it I would have never found had it not been for the internet.
Find A Grave is an awesome site, people helping people. I can't say enough good things about it.
I live near the little town of Nimrod, Minnesota in Wadena County located in west central Minnesota. I used to travel the whole northeastern part of the state in my work and drove past many cemeteries, not ever knowing what I was missing out on. Maybe that's a good thing, I would have never got my work done!
To all of you who have helped me, I thank you sincerely and will do my best to help as many folks as I can in their research.
If you are interested in a transfer on any of the graves I have entered, I will gladly do a transfer as long as they aren't in my family line. It does not matter to me how distantly they are related to you, if they tie in to your lines somewhere down the road, I'll gladly transfer them.

PLEASE USE EDIT TAB ON MEMORIAL FOR REQUESTING TRANSFERS!!!
I am working on several cemeteries trying to fill in as much information as possible and trying to make as many links as possible. I therefore am sending out a lot of correction requests. If you don't want, or don't know how to make the corrections, please just transfer the memorial to me with a note you want it back and I will make the corrections and additions and transfer it back to you.

this what she has to say :
[Send Reply] Nonsense from you leaving such a message on a memorial.
Why do people place memorials before their death? So many people do it on Find A Grave. Don't criticize me, others do it.
Have a GREAT day.

she has FOUR !!! two created BEFORE her death on Sep 28 and two on SEp 30.. the ones created o Sep 28 need to be deleted as they violate the Find A Grave rules... the other two need to be merged

Florence is my husband's great grand aunt. The only info I have regarding her birth and death dates have been entered on her Find A Grave memorial. The birth month and year is from the 1900 census and her date of death was found in a publication from the Cass County Museum & Historical Society. Thanks! ~ Mary

I just noticed that you added a photo of the marker for Florence's grave site in Bethlehem Cemetery. Thank you so much! I've never seen one quite like that. It almost looks like a temporary marker. I greatly appreciate your time and effort! ~ Mary
Thank you so much for making the edits and adding the bio for Edwin Gisi. Your work on this site is very much appreciated.

Thank you so much for the picture. One step at a time, I will find his birth place. I doubt very much about his birth date, but this is all we have.
I have changed the spouse designation to William. Nice to have this correction. Thank you.

Hello Jim Childers
How did you get the portrait/drawing of Mary Jane Houghtailing Halladay? Are you related to her and/or the Halladay family or Mary Jane's son in- law Hiram Edward Daniels #52456702?
Thank you very much.
Are you related in any way? I have not connection and am looking for good homes for many of my unknown to me memorials. Interested?
