Shortly after the Moravian Church in the small town of Aurelia, ND. closed in the early 70's, an association was formed to look after the cemetery.|
It was renamed the Aurelia Community Cemetery. I was elected to the board a few years later when one of the original members died. About ten years ago I helped my sister work on our family tree and now when I found Find A Grave, I realized how helpful it could have been.
This information was mostly taken from the tombstones at cemeteries I have visited, with some added from our family tree and ND death index files. I also get information from the Mouse River Loop Genealogy Society, of which I am a member.Most of these cemeteries are located in northwestern North Dakota.
With over 75,000 names in about 675 cemeteries, I'm sure I have made some mistakes. If anyone finds any errors or has more information let me know.I have photos (about 60,000) of the markers of most of the graves added in the last few years. I do not have time to add all these pictures but if someone requests one I will gladly add it if I have one. Please put Find A Grave in subject line.
Most of the obituaries I have added are from local funeral homes or old newspapers with their permission. All pictures that I have added were taken by me personally.

Hi Herb-- I created Mem# 131820859 for Victoria Cyr Croisettier in 2014. I just realized you had one too, from years ago. I didn't see it, as her maiden & last name was misspelled.
I will send SAC's to correct, then delete mine.
Thanks for all your hard work on Find A Grave!

Thanks for posting Peter Lystvedt's marker in Glenwood Cemetery. I see the name is Lystvest on there, but per his death certificate on the ND Public Death Index, it is spelled Lystvedt which is why I changed it. I believe it is correct now. Also, it's next to Hans Lystvedt's marker which is spelled correctly. Thanks again!

Thank you for updating this memorial. Blanch was on my paternal grandmother's side. You have also done memorials for my maternal grandparents's side (Christensen's in Stanley) Thank you very, very much!

I don't think she could have had a maiden name as she was only a month old. Regards, PMS Sillix
Thank you Herb; the additional transfers mean a lot!

Hi Herb! Would you consider transferring Vera Johnson's memorial ( 40191904 ) to me? I would like to make some name changes and add a pic and bio and it would be easier for me to do it than keep bugging you. Not related but she was a neighbor of ours. I got a plat of the cemetery at Zion Lutheran Church south of Noonan so if you see a lot of changes from me for there its because I am making changes per the plat. Thanks!
|Roger Root||oops - initials|
Herb, Regarding Find A Grave Memorial# 30407091 do you think that Elwin L. Root may have had another middle name? You have seen a lot of stones and maybe you have an idea what E L W means? Regards,

Herb... just a short note to express my heartfelt appreciation for all you have done to help future generations of family historians by documenting some of the smaller community cemetery. Thanks also for your timely feedback to my recent feedback messages; adding life details & family connections.
Namaste, "PJ" Braun, ETCM/USN (retired)
