I've been involved in genealogy for many years.
My husband and I have spent much of our lives the business of cemetery memorials which we always thought of as helping preserve family histories.
We hope we can help others find their ancestors and this seems a great place to start.
If we have entered a name and photo that is your family, please let me know if you wish to have a transfer of ownership per the transfer guidelines.
To have an obit added to a grave, please follow the guidelines listed in Frequently Asked Questions - Also please do not include names of survivors in the obituary.
Corrections, additions, transfers, etc. please use the edit tab. (all other corrections or additions will be ignored)
Please remember the goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal is to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it.

RE: Washington Co. Potter/Ballard Civil War Veterans
Thank you so much! You are much appreciated. I found you as a contributor in Wakefield too. (Lewis Laflin) May I use that, also for the Civil War site? And---maybe there's more. Kansas has a lot of territory!!! My goal is to find soldiers/sailors/nurses that had ties/roots in Vermont, either by birth, enlistment, service etc. OH My--just found 2 more,Roger Tubbs in Exeter and Erastus Hinds, from Clay Center.

Thanks again.

If you are interested in the Civil War, check out the F.A.G memorial of Erastus Hinds. He was from Eden,Vt prior to going to Kansas There's a letter on the page that I found in an ancient news paper & the webmaster of the C.W. site posted it. There were several Hinds boys that went to war--If I remember right there were 6 brothers & 2 cousins. They had some bad times.I lived in Eden for 20 years, so got attached to the town, thus its history & did quite a bit of research up there.I was so happy to see his burial spot listed--it made my day!!

May I use the grave markers/monuments that you contributed to the Find A Grave Memorials for Charles Potter, and David Ballard, to post on the Vermont Civil War site? (

You will receive credit for this. Thank you for your consideration.

Wrong year of death
#144646098 James W Keener
The stone that was added to this grave has the wrong year of death. He died on Nov. 11, 1892. His obituary is in the Clay Center Dispatch, Thursday, Nov. 17, 1892, page 3, column 4:
On Friday evening at his home in Athelstane Township, Mr. Keener died, aged nearly 52 years. He had been sick for two weeks with a fever but was better and thought to be in a fair way for a speedy recovery. On this evening some members of the family had just returned from town and Mr. Keener was much interested in hearing from the boys in town and all the other news. Suddenly he called his daughter to him and it was seen that a collapse of his vitality had taken place and in twenty minutes he was dead. Mr. Keener had resided on the same place since coming to Kansas thirteen years ago and was one of the most upright and substantial men in the community. He had been a consistent and worthy member of the Evangelical church for thirty years. The funeral which occurred on Monday was very large and the remains where lain to rest in Athelstane cemetery. He leaves a wife and seven children, S.A. and J.R. comprising the firm of Keener Bros. live in town, one son, George, lives in Colorado and the rest of the family at home.

Memorial Photo for 108906061
Hi, you photographed the headstone for James T. Worley. He has a unit written at the bottom of the stone but I cannot make it out. I am working on a Fold3 memorial and need to make sure this is the James T. Worley I'm looking for. is it possible for you to look at your originals and let me know what his unit is. Thank you so much.

Meryl Edward Nemnich #132751620
Hi Rox, can you please remove the photo you added to this memorial? It's correctly posted to the memorial, also at Lincoln, for Meryl Edwin Nemnich, but it is not co0rrect for Meryl Edward Nemnich (a look at the birth and death dates will confirm that).

Thanks as always for helping document Clay County cemeteries!

Allen C, Wheeler

Allen C. Wheeler is my 3rd great uncle. May I have your permission to make a copy of your photo on memorial 18578758? I need it for submission to a lineage society.

Thank you,

John Henry Edris
Please forgive my extreme tardiness for thanking you for the picture of John Henry Edris. It's been a year since my mother-in-law passed away and I am just now getting back to the genealogy. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
