COOL YOU ARE a relative, he was such a great soldier and man
|Sylvia Millard||The Millard family|
For some reason your e-Mail from last year popped back into my new mail. I can't remember if I made contact with you are not. My husband, now deceased, was the Millard. He had no real knowledge of his father or his father's family, because of a rather bad divorce of his parents when he was 4 years old. Since my husband's death in 2008, I have had the opportunity to follow the Millard family back to the 1200's.
Here is what you asked me about.
George Kerst, Jr. married Mary Ehrgood
Samuel Millard married their daughter Elinor
Their child was Jeremiah Millard who married Elizabeth Price. Their child was Truman Millard who married Olive Veihdorfer. Their child was Malcolm Millard, my husbands father who married Elizabeth Kochis, his mother. They divorced.
After my husband was grown, Elizabeth married a second time to George Walsh, no relation to my husband.
The Millard history is fascinating in two areas for me. Firstly, going back to Joseph Millard, who was my husband's 5th Great Grandfather, he was married to Hannah Lincoln, making my husband a second cousin, 5x removed from Abraham Lincoln. My husband never knew this,for which I am sad. And, secondly, the Millards came to America from Lincolnshire, England along with the Gilmores, the Lincolns, the Boones and all of the settled in Berks, Pa. The Gilmores were the forebears of the President's Bush and were also married to the Millards. And, maybe the final point of interest is that all of my ancestors came from the British Isles, particularly England. As I got back to the 1500's, I began to see that my husband and I had many ancestors in common, both families in the Royal bloodlines. My husband came from Pa to Ohio and I am from Miss and Fla. That we would have common roots is kind of amazing to me. Let me hear from you. I would love to know more abot the Kerst's as they kind of end after a few generations and I know very little about them.
I am sure you are kin to my husband through Elinor Kerst.
Sincerely, Sylvia email@example.com
|Ray Martinson||RE: Simeon Carroll - addendum|
I've located a scanned copy of the Pennant district history book from the 1980's. An entry for Simeon Carroll can be found at this address:
I think you'll have to copy and paste it into your browser.

Sorry, the 1916 Census shows Simeon as born in 1844.

I am in the process of catalogueing the Pennant Cemetery in Pennant, Saskatchewan, Canada. I have found the Carroll family plot, but there is no visible monument for either Simeon or Mary Carroll. There are stones for Simeon's son Clive, his wife, and two of their children. I have created entries for this family at Find-a-Grave, including photos of the headstones.
There is an entry for this family in a local history of the Pennant area, and I can forward more information if you desire.
The 1916 Census of Canada shows Mary Carroll as having been born in Ontario of English descent, about 1866. This census shows Simeon as born in Ontario, of Irish descent, as opposed to 1851 in your Find-a-Grave entry.
I hope all is well with you.

I have no idea how to reply to this. Where are you seeing the name "Ellen"? Please provide the memorial# of the person that you are talking about. I looked at Jack Potts that is buried in Potts Cemetary at Kinderhook. There is no mention of any "Ellen".
|Sue Wilcox||RE: hi|

|Cheryl Wilson||RE: WHO IS ELLEN|
What was the birth and/or death year of the Jack Potts that you say was married to Ellen Potts? What was the birth and/or death year of Ellen Potts? What was her maiden name?
I know that there is a Jack Potts (1872-1917) in Potts Cemetery at Kinderhook that was married to Della Mae Oakley Potts. This Jack Potts was the son of Miles and Missouri Potts, who are buried closeby.
There is a Jackie Potts in Potts at Tanyard cemetery with an unknown birth year and a death date of 1917. The transcription says that he was 54 years old, so he would have been born sometime around 1863.
Sorry, I don't have any record of a Ellen Potts.
Hope this helps in your search
