|James Temple||Hopewell Cemetery, Hunt County, Texas|
Ms. Coker, my name is James Alderson Temple. I was born in 1940, in Merit, Texas, in the home of my grandfather, William Ryburn Alderson, who is buried in the Merit Cemetery. His father, Andrew Patterson Alderson buried a child, George Washington Alderson II, in the Hopewell Cemetery.
When I was 4-years-old, my grandfather would let me ride with him in his old Plymouth coupe to Merit where he would buy gasoline at Mr. Coker's filling station. He would then take the 25¢ change from the dollar bill with which he paid for his 5 gallons of gasoline and spend another dime on a Royal Crown (RC) Cola and a peanut patty. That experience was just about as close to heaven as a 4-year-old can get.
Many years ago, I visited the Hopewell Cemetery and found it in terrible shape; cattle had been grazing throughout it and had knocked many of the grave markers down. Even then it had begun to become overgrown with trees and brush.
Are you related to Mr. Coker, the filling station owner? How did you find out about the Hopewell Cemetery?

|Donna Greenwade Bulgier||Hopewell Cemetery|
Thank you for all of the great work you have done on this cemetery. I was wondering if there are any burial records for this cemetery kept anywhere in Hunt county. George Dennison Greenwade was the brother of my Great Grandfather, Thomas Greenwade. Thomas's wife Florence was a Corzine, and I would like to find more information on P.B. and Mariah Corzine that are buried in Hopewell.
Thank you for any help!

Wondered if you had any information on who Charles M Coker's parents were and where they were from? Charles would be my great,great grandfather. Great grandfather was James A Coker. Grandfather was James Calhoun "Jim" Coker. My father was Carl Mac Coker. Just curious of the linage before Charles M Coker.

Joseph Whitfield Coker was not a son of Charles M. Coker. Charles M. Coker did have a son named Joseph Coker, who was also born 1861, but it was a different Joseph Coker, not Joseph Whitfield Coker.

Your sons would not be able to do the DNA testing, has to be a direct male descendant. So you will have to find a Coker male cousin to do the testing, sorry. Please write to me after August 1st at MikeJessieCheek at cs dot com as I have to take a break from genealogy over the summer.
Robbie, I would like to hear from you and I would love to know if any of your family would consider doing the Coker DNA testing. It would be very helpful in knowing who the father was of Charles M. Coker.
