Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was raised in Monrovia, Atchison County Kansas. I attended Monrovia Grade School, Atchison County Community High School in Effingham and graduated from Benedictine College. I have enjoyed a career as an art director/creative director in the Kansas City advertising community for over thirty years. My interest are Civil War history particularly the border war between Missouri and Kansas and the history of Monrovia and Atchison County Kansas.

I am currently doing research on the Nottingham, Geiger, Parker, Yocum, Bradley and Ledington families.

I have a vested interest in the Monrovia cemetery as it overlooks and adjoins my family farm. My father served on the Monrovia cemetery board for many years and my younger brothers and I mowed that cemetery for most of our teenage years.

Thanks, Steve

RE: Yoakum/Yocum/Yocom
Hi Stephen,

Are your Yocums related to Peter Petersson Yocum (Yochim)1652-1701, son of Peter Jochimsson?
Take a look at this memorial 125243933, it explains the Yocum/Yocom line from Peter Jochimsson. My Yocoms came from Jonas Yocom.
If your Yocums are related, then you and I are related.

Jane Ames Van Kleeck
I noticed that your entry for Jane Ames Van Kleeck shows her burial is in Pennsylvania. Your date of death is correct but she and infant daughter Susan are buried in the Clearview Cemetery, Cohocton, Steuben County, New York. We have been there twice and the sexton showed us their grave site (no headstone). They are in one of two purchased sites, the second is unoccupied. Nearby are buried daughter Martha Van Kleeck Yocum, son Walter (4), husband Swan and mother-in-law Margaret.
David Van Kleeck and family moved back to Luzerne County, Pa after the 1860 census, He joined the 162 Pennsylvania unit on 22 September 1862. His brother George was in the 104 New York Infantry. He was killed 30 August 1862 at the battle of Bull Run.
Thank you for your much work in Find-a-grave.
Cheers, Melvin Wright

I am researching the Yocoms as they are related to me. I see that you denied my edit for the Yocam memorials. Do you have any paperwork that discusses these Yocum's/Yocam's?
I'm sure it's just a typo on the stone, but I have edited over 150 Yocum's that were in reality Yocoms, even the stone said Yocom, so I want to be sure of the spellings.
Any info you have that could shed light on this would be great.
Thanks for all you do for Find a Grave.

Col. John Daum Pardee Cemetary
Thank you for adding cemetery photos for Col. John Daum who was my maternal grandfather. My grandmother, Sarah Margaret Daum I believe is buried next to my grandfather. My grandmother Sarah Daum passed away the same time as John F. Kennedy's death in 1963. I just retired and now have more time to research my family background which I enjoy so much.

Monrovia & Lancaster Cem.
Thanks for all you have done. I started doing cemeteries in 1976. I wrote a book on Pardee and Farmington then. I am presently doing an ancestorial search on each person in the Lancaster Cemetery. Marcelline Vaughan

Henry Hinks, died 1904, buried in Muscotah Cemetery
Thank you so much for this obituary. My daughters and I searched microfilm of old newspapers and saw when he died and where he was buried, but never found this obituary.

Drollinger graves
I am trying to locate the graves of my GG Grandparents William R and Melisa Ann Drollinger. William's obituary shows he's buried in the Farmington Cemetery and Melisa Ann's obituary shows Pardee Cemetery which is one and the same I'm assuming. I found Merit Drollinger's (their son) grave at Pardee Cemetery but no mention of his parents. Do you know who would have the records for this cemetery in the event they are in unmarked graves? I would appreciate any help you can offer.
