Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was raised in Monrovia, Atchison County Kansas. I attended Monrovia Grade School, Atchison County Community High School in Effingham and graduated from Benedictine College. I have enjoyed a career as an art director/creative director in the Kansas City advertising community for over thirty years. My interest are Civil War history particularly the border war between Missouri and Kansas and the history of Monrovia and Atchison County Kansas.

I am currently doing research on the Nottingham, Geiger, Parker, Yocum, Bradley and Ledington families.

I have a vested interest in the Monrovia cemetery as it overlooks and adjoins my family farm. My father served on the Monrovia cemetery board for many years and my younger brothers and I mowed that cemetery for most of our teenage years.

Thanks, Steve

Pardee cemetery
Hi Stephen,
I see you added a memorial for W. M. Stiles in Pardee cemetery. I believe it should be William M. Stites. He was my great great uncle and I have the civil war headstone record showing him in Pardee Cemetery. If some time you get a chance could you Che k that out for me?
I am also looking for records of Alfred Stites buried in Atchison county I am guessing Pardee or Cummings. Died 1863.
I also have many family buried in Cummings cemetery.

Hi, I noticed you are researching the Yocum's. I was wondering if you had ever come across a Mary Jane Yocum b. 1833/34 in Oh. or IN. She married James Marion Stultz in Buchanan Co.,MO 26 Jan. 1854. They farmed in Rush Twp. They are both buried at the Henry Gore Family Graveyard not far from Sugar Creek Cem. I haven't been able to find her parents or siblings. It has been suggested that she was the daughter of George W. & Catherine (Montgomery) Yocum but their daughter known as Jane is Sarah Jane. Mary Jane has been a very tough one to learn anything about. I would be thrilled if you could help me find out who her parents and/or siblings were.
