Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am 74,a native Tennessean and a 57 year Texan. I love old cemeteries and reading old tombstones. I often wish I knew more about some of the people whose stones I have read, how they lived, how they died and their families. I don't do genealogy but have a granddaughter who does a lot.

Thank you Mary
Thank you Mary for transferring James Stout to me. I will add anything I have on him. My husband and I got 32 Confederate markers in the late 1990's and I'm thinking James was one of them. So I have a special place in my heart for all the CSA soldiers at Balch Cemetery. Thanks again.

RE: Answer to your question on the photo requests at Cleburne Memorial
No problems caused. I was just 'curious' as well.

Answer to your question on the photo requests at Cleburne Memorial
Seeing as how neither Weldon or Barbara has yet to answer your question I will answer it for them. Some time back, Weldon started a project of 'mowing the rows' at CMC and then adding memorials and headstone photos were needed.

Not long after I became a member, I decided to 'mow the rows' at CMC as well. At the time, I was unaware that Weldon was doing the same thing. Eventually after some communicating back and forth with Weldon, I became aware of his project. With the blocks I worked at CMC, I pretty much helped him finish his project ahead of schedule.

At the present moment, Weldon is cross-referencing his memorials with the CMC burial records. He said that a lot of the photos he took he ended up not uploading them due to wanting better quality photos. That is the reason you are seeing him requesting the photos. While their maybe a family member or two of his amongst the thousand memorials he created at CMC, most are not family.

As far the requests from Barbara, I believe that she is going through, seeing that a memorial needs a photo and requesting one.

I'm curious as to why it matters whether or not they are related to the deceased in the memorials they have requested photos for? Or was that more or less a generic question to them? Anyone can request a photo from any memorial on Find A Grave. You don't have to be family to the deceased.

Thank you Mary for taking all those pictures at Balch Cemetery, especially the Confederate headstones. My maiden name is Owens, do you have relatives in Alabama or Texas?

Thanks again.

James K. Porter at Sand Flat Cemetery
Hello Mary,
I agree with you. The 1972 cemetery survey has his death in 1950 instead of 1915. Also I've found maybe 4 or 5 markers hidden in a thicket at the cemetery which were not listed.
Is there a Sand Flat Cemetery association?
I'd be happy to help.
Best wishes,
Brad Willis
