My love of genealogy began with my parents who did a great amount of research on each of their families. This was before they died in the 1970's. I didn't want their research to be lost or forgotten. So I began to do further research adding information to their records, and most of all to share all of the research with extended family. I love the challenge of finding records of proof for each date given.

You have my permission to use the gravestone pictures I have submitted to Find A Grave for your genealogy records, along with a notation giving me credit for them.

Please do not print out a biography I have written on any Memorial page and add that biography to ancestry or any place else. Content submitted on Find A Grave is copyrighted. As I continue to find information I sometimes change or correct a biography and its contents to reflect what I have found. I am a member of Ancestry and enter information from my private family tree there to record burials here on Find A Grave.

As I work on my family's genealogy I have added names of family and where they are buried so I can share that information with extended family members, and the burial locations will not be lost.

Find A Grave is a wonderful place to help us with our genealogies. The dedicated members who take time to record hundreds of burials that are in a cemetery, take photographs of their graves and post that information so we can find them, is a wonderful help to all of us. They are truly dedicated members. As are the ones who volunteer to answer people's requests for photographs. For generations to come this information will be preserved. (C. (Hill) Krueger

Thank you so much for sponsoring this memorial. Is he your relative? Would you like for me to transfer him to your care?

Glad my photos could help you verify a family story. Now you know there should be some records of her service somewhere in the US military archives. OH JOY! Something else to research and verify. Having been at this a long time I know how much fun it is when something like this happens and you can share this with your family.

Lord research
Hello, I'm researching my GGG grandfather Thomas Lord 1789-1858 of Jackson Co Ga and South Carolina?? All the info on him and alleged father and mother names are all copied data since 1998 by hundreds of researchers. (ancestry just has census records on Thomas Lord in Georgia on him) I have no clue where he came from but I'm convinced he came from England. My DNA does not match Wilkinson Co Georgia Lord descendants . Any info would be appreciated. Sincerely,Tania Thompson

RE: Lord Family
Hi Carolyn,
My grandmother gave her dad's ring to my brother. It had his middle name inscripted in it. I think it was spelled the other way in the ring though Devereaux. I'll have to ask my brother again.
Had you ever been to that cemetery in Tuscaloosa? Hope you are doing well! Please send me your email address again. My computer went haywire. Mine is lida.gregg@comcast.net. And please pass it along about the LORD Ancestry Group. Thanks! Lida

Lord Family
Hey Carolyn!

It's your long lost cousin here in Augusta, Georgia. I wanted to let you know that I was able to visit Amanda S. Lord's grave in Tuscaloosa, AL last week! It was amazing. I have contacted them about the other spots in her plot. No one is buried there. I'm so curious as to why they bought such a large plot for only one burial. Anyhow, please pass on to any LORD descendants that are on Facebook that I have a closed Lord Ancestry Group that I would love to add them to. You won't believe how many descendants I have found! I haven't had time to work on the Lord side of my family because I just got back from MS attending a Gregg family event. I hope you are doing well! Keep in touch, Lida.

good to hear that I was able to help in this little puzzle.. Good news....I know exactly where the stone is.....but I want to double check the section....it is in section 41 , 50 or 51. I should be there in a week. Plus I will get very clear pictures of the stone so you may read the complete stone

Take care

John
