Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have many ancestors who lived in Milton and the surrounding townships going back to the late 1700s. I have a web site for the town - A Pictorial History of Milton, Northumberland Co., PA. I encourage anyone who is interested to contribute pictures of the town or old family portraits (prior to 1930). There is genealogical information on the site as well, and contributions to that are also welcome.

Catherine "Kate" D. Wax Godcharles Memorial
Thanks much for the substantial edits to Catherine Wax Godcharles memorial. Very much appreciated. If only we could find a death date for her!

Best, Barry

Gresh tombstone photos
You definitely win the Grand Photo Prize for Today, Larry! Those are great tombstone photos. Would that everybody's F.A.G. tombstone photos were as sharp, cropped, and clear! And, I was able to put more complete dates of death on several of the memorials because of the info in the photos. I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you about family portraits, however. I'm not a family member either, so I don't have any. But we're both doing our respective good deeds for the Gresh family. Much appreciated.... ~ Jay

Rose Hill
Hello Larry - the Rose Hill home was owned by the Hastings family for a time - they lived there in the late 40's/early 50's for certain; the publisher's grandson, Berkeley Penn Hastings, was a childhood friend of my father, who lived on Walnut Street, just a few doors down. The Kramm family, who sold the house to the library bought it from a daycare provider, if memory serves.

RE: Milton historical site
I remember my best friend, Mary, talking about her "rich" grandfather. When he visited her family living in Tacoma, Washington, he was very bitter about losing "all his money." He was still an entrepreneur, though, and was trying to invent a candy to rival Tacoma's famous Almond Roca. Once I have the family's permission, I will send you more information. I knew Elmer did well (his brother). He, according to news articles, was still running the company well into his 90s.

RE: Milton historical site
I will send you what I can find out. All three Hemminger girls have photos. They might want to send copies to the library. I will ask them. I will stay in touch. Again, thanks! Alice
