Feel free to use any photos that I have taken. If you want to note my name and give me credit, it is very much appreciated.|
My current project is Woodland Cemetery in Las Vegas. Big thanks to Miracle Mile Tim for recommending this project. With in excess of 24,000 burial plots, Woodlawn may take 2-3 years to complete all memorials with obituaries and genealogical data. It appears that approximately 4,000 gravesites may be unidentified and have no markers.
Started photographing markers in the center part of Woodlawn and moved westward to Las Vegas Blvd. Working on the south side of the property and then doubling back to finish plots on the east side. Ron Minor photographed much of the far east side.
The initial photographing and entry of 99% of the memorials is complete. Only small parts of two sections need to be entered.
Beginning to work thru the 1,100 older memorials entered that have no memorial photos. Many if not most of these may be difficult to locate and could possibly be burials not at Woodlawn.

Thank you for the info and the photo. Thank you, as well, for everything you are doing to preserve the memory of those that have gone before.

Found your entry for Richard (WITH PHOTO) and there is another one in Arizona with the same dates (NO PIC). The obit from the Las Vegas Review Journal says burial was in Nevada too! Just thought you would like to know.
NOW for my problem...is there any indication in burial information about his parents, siblings etc? I have a Richard Cole born 1919 in Ohio to Vernon Richard Cole & Marie Nellie Runkle; I do believe this is the man you have found in the cemetery...BUT would like to know if more info is available. Can you check this for me (I am in Ohio-could call if need be) BUT I thought with the work you are doing you would know where to look for this information.
Richard had brothers Donald & Warren & a sister Margaret Cole Smith; his mother, Donald & Margaret died in California
Thanks for any help you can provide. If we can determine his relationship I would like to get him linked to the rest of the family.
