Feels good to be back at work and actually working. Not full time, yet. But getting stronger. Been a long time coming!
Love working with computers. I am a technology specialist and technology coordinator for my local school district. I guess it is a good thing I screen shoot all my searches. I do know computers!!!!
Findagrave has their rules and regulations for a reason, if you feel they are to strict or to laxed perhaps this is not the place you need to volunteer your time with. If you want to help them please accept their rules/regulations and stop changing them to benefit yourself or your ways. I try my best to go by the rules, so don't fault me, if it is not the way you want it. Sorry!
Keep in mind, this is not a place for a family tree! It is a tribute to those who have passed on before us, gives relatives a chance to see their family member's graves, and help with family research. If you are asking for transfers (outside of FAG rules) just to create a tree, I will not transfer. If it is your goal to maintain memorials of those that are related to you, it goes against what FINDAGRAVE is all about. You have any additional info I will gladly add through the edit system. I will also be happy to make all corrections, additions and family links you may have. If you want to be a major part and contribute to FINDAGRAVE, please go out and do the leg work, walk cemeteries, visit newspaper offices, state archives and find where your relatives are buried. They may have an unmarked grave and by doing this you may help another. Just maintaining your relatives memorials is not a contribution. Someone else has already done the leg work.
On all transfer requests, include your relationship to the deceased. Requests will only be processed if they fall within Findagrave guidelines. Please, don't ask if beyond Findagrave quidelines. Request of transfers outside the guidelines will be ignored.
Everyone has their own way when creating memorials. I try my best to go by findagrave rules. Please do not try to get me to do it your way. Not saying it is wrong, just respect the way I do mine. I do not link to unknown burials. I archive every cemetery, that I add a memorial to after creating a memorial for that cemetery. I also do this for the name on the created memorial.
Rule - (Please do NOT add newspaper article or obituary scans. The photo section is reserved for headstone/grave photos and possibly a portrait photo of the person, if that photo is owned by you. Do not copy and post photographs from obituary or funeral home websites (unless you personally are the photographer), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records. Obituaries for "famous" individuals are usually written by newspaper staff and can not be posted to Find A Grave as the newspaper company owns that copyright. Please do not include website addresses that may be listed in the obituary as they usually expire within a year after the obituary is printed.)
Rule - (Find A Grave does not discourage the legitimate indexing of the deceased through obituaries or other 3rd party accounts. Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. What we ask is that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased. If anyone related to the deceased feel unsatisfied with Find A Grave or the memorial manager, we ask that they contact us.)
Rule - (Why are there multiple memorials for the same individual? How does Find A Grave handle duplicate memorials?--- Because so many people add data to Find A Grave, there are often duplicate cemeteries and duplicate memorials added. This is a very common situation and is quite difficult to resolve in a way that keeps everyone happy. Before adding a memorial, search the cemetery to see if a record with that name has already been added. If you are adding a memorial for someone who has recently passed or who does not have a physical grave or memorial marker in a cemetery (perhaps their ashes were scattered), please do a general search on Find A Grave (do not enter a location) to see if a memorial has already been created for that person. If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. Never deliberately create a duplicate memorial. In regard to duplicates, a memorial with a correct known burial location will always be preferred over an unknown burial location. A member has thirty days to update the memorial to the correct burial location on recent deaths. If a case of duplicate memorials falls to the Administration, the Administration will have the final word on which memorial is deleted and which data will be retained in the remaining memorial page.)
Some things are better left unsaid! So perhaps, I do not reply. Sometimes, it is best just to laugh about things and let it go. All threatening, bullying or harassing email messages will be forwarded to Findagrave admins.
Please ask before using my photos. You may do this by using the edit tab on any memorial I have created.
