Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching my German ancestry for about 10 years. My family came to Calumet and Manitowoc counties in Wisconsin beginning in 1850. My Ortlepp ancestors came from Gotha, Thuringen; my Hass and Schildhauer ancestors came from the Eckernfoerde district of Schleswig Holstein; my Koeppen ancestors came from Dargun, Mecklenburg. I was born in Sheboygan but now I live in Rhode Island. My family tree on Ancestry.com is HASS ORTLEPP SCHILDHAUER KOEPPEN, or Ancestors of Edward Hass and Emma Ortlepp.

RE: Hillman/Ortlepp
I am just curious, you mentioned in a note you did not find two burials you are looking for. Maybe I can help. Who are you looking for?

RE: Hillman/Ortlepp
Trinity Lutheran's records (original) from 1858 to about 1889 were originally in a smaller brown colored book. In about 1889 they bought a Large, real, church record book and the pastor at that time put all the records from 1858 to 1889 in the new book. And the 1889 book is the one they let people see for genealogy. The records of the E.U.B. church? Well, from around the 1930's until the time they closed the records are at Faith United Methodist Church in Brillion. Faith in Brillion used to be an E.U.B. Church and was a yoked parish with Rantoul. In the 1960's the Evangelical United Bretheran denomination merged with the Methodists. They closed half the churches and the ones left were renamed United Methodist. Older records for Rantoul E.U.B. Church are in the Methodist church in Lark, Brown County, Wisconsin. I think that book only covers the 1890's through the 1920's. But it might have records back to the 1870's. Been a long time since I've seen them. I do not know who takes care of the cemetery there.

RE: Hass/Zolman
I think I will always be "in need of Zolman" anything.
My maternal grandmother was a Zolman (Beatrice).
I would gladly welcome anything you would like to share.
And please excuse me, but what is the name of your book?
I have Art Reierson's book and have corresponded with him. He sends the funniest emails!
There is a Mark Geisler who has many memorials on findagrave.com. I have also corresponded with him.

RE: Hass/Gregg
Thanks Donna. I just linked George with his parents and will eventually try to link him with his siblings. As for the Hass name, I'm surprised that the name has no historical connection with the Haas surname. Very interesting, thanks for sharing.

RE: Hass/Gregg
Ha, ha, I guess yo win ownership of the memorial since that would make you a closer relative. You would be 1st cousin 1xr of Evelyn and I would be 1st cousin 2xr of George. :)
