Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been into family history since 1973. I transcribed all cemeteries in town Schleswig, Manitowoc County, WI in 1974.
I am currently working on Calumet County, trying to get all cemeteries transcribed.
If you have corrections or additions to anything I have on please let me know.

I do not take credit for many of the pictures I post here, they are given to me by fellow researchers who want them shared with family members.
If I have any pictures of your family members, you are welcome to use them.
Hint: click on the picture you want, and that will bring up a larger file, and then save it.

I've added a new virtual cemetery -- Cemetery X. In my research I am finding obits for people who have some connections in Calumet County, but I don't know where they are buried.

If you have cemetery stones that need cleaning or repair work on old cemetery stones, Shane Peik, has a Chilton, Wisconsin based service.

Mark Hansen
Frank Johst
I am researching on history of St. John's Institute for Deaf-Mutes in MIlwaukee and found from school records of brothers Frank and Peter Johst who enrolled there in 1890. This led me to here and I see a low-res photo of Frank posted by you. Could you point me to original source (perhaps a descendant?) where I can obtain a high-res TIFF image file. I see that Peter died of heat stroke at age of 31. It would be nice to get one of Peter as well?

Thank you in advance,
Mark Hansen

incorrect picture
The wedding picture of Melvin Buboltz of Brillion WI is not Melvin and Evelyn Buboltz. I have posted a correct wedding picture of Melvin and Evelyn (my maternal grandparents).

I have been looking in my grandmother's family photo album and there is a picture of Hugo Tuerpe, Oswald's brother. Do you have any more information about Oswald? Thank you

Birth Locations = St. Croix

In particular for Jacob Kessel, 1857-1889, but true for multiple members of our family.

Agreed that the original WI Birth Index record states birth location = St. Croix, however the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center confirms that this is a known error in the original data and the County should be Sheboygan County.

I note that I now have two WI Birth Index records (via Ancestry), for Jacob Kessel, Reel # 271, Record # 343, One obtained quite a while ago reports St. Croix, the one I obtained tonight reports Sheboygan. Apparently Ancestry is correcting the database.

Thanks for all the great work!
